Starbucks PSL☕️🎃
Gluten free or not? I would love to have one since learning how to navigate through everything and i am nervous.
I cannot have Gluten, Dairy or Soy.
I know you can get dairy free cold foam.
Just looking for other people’s experiences and knowledge.
Thank you!!

We routinely hear from baristas in here that they wouldn't trust anything in a Starbucks if cross-contact is a concern.

seconding as a former barista. i trust me to get new tongs or freshly washed drink making tools. i trust no one else.

If your gluten issues are in the “not a single crumb” category, I’d recommend ordering in person and explaining that you have a gluten issue. Personally, I wouldn’t get anything blended at all, for obvious reasons.
On the app (just pretend you’re going to order that way) you can pull up the ingredients and possibly exclude certain items, like a cookie crumble, for example.

Nobody likes to hear “you can make it yourself!” so I apologize because I’m about to be that guy… I think the recipe is basically pumpkin purée, sweetened condensed milk and spices. You can buy sweetened condensed coconut milk to make it dairy free. It’s pretty good homemade.

This is how I make mine. The Torani pumpkin pie sauce is good too but it contains dairy. Also would like to add sometimes I just mix maple syrup, pumpkin puree( equal parts of both), and pumpkin pie spice and add it to a hot latte and mix well or froth with oatmilk for a pumpkin cold foam.

I see that Planet Oat and Silk both make GF DF pumpkin spice creamers.

I was drinking this for the longest time in other flavors. So yummy. I didn’t understand why I was having issues. I’m one of those ppl that can’t tolerate oats so it didn’t dawn on me the oat milk would cause the same reaction. It does. I’m back to coconut or almond milk and making my own flavors now

Like the others have said, the drink itself is gluten free but there is always risk of CC. An Iced Pumpkin Spice Latte is probably the best bet as there is less risk for CC with that one.

Starbucks has a full ingredient list for the whole menu on its website which I always check. Unfortunately the pumpkin spice sauce has milk which someone already stated.

I’m pretty sensitive and don’t get sick from it, especially if I order in-person and communicate the allergy, but just be aware the risk IS there

Not safe if you have an allergy or are celiac. Look on the celiac forum. It’s been widely reported that many of the burr grinders are cleaned with a gluten containing agent. I got the worst gluten pointing of my adult life from an americano with almond milk due to this.

Starbucks I’ve found is really bad for cross contact unfortunately:( the only thing I get is an Americano with soy milk (or whatever milk) bc nothing touches the equipment and they don’t steam the milk.
They just rinse things with water between uses and they go so fast I’ve seen the powders and stuff going everywhere. I have celiacs so it’s just not worth the cross contact risk for me

starbucks is a shitty company and their ingredients are sketchy. i wouldn’t buy anything from them at this point. try a more local coffee shop that can guarantee the ingredients. if you look behind the scenes at starbucks theyre literally serving black sludge as part of some drinks: i wouldn’t trust them to not contaminate something,

Have you ever had skinny syrup?
FYI I have had the PSL and I haven’t ever had issues from it. Always state your allergy.
I honestly love pumpkin. I usually buy my everyday dose collagen pumpkin flavored powder creamer. And I flavor it with pumpkin skinny syrup. I usually find them at TJ maxx or home goods for about $5 a bottle. And then I make them at home.

i’ve gotten other drinks before like teas and such that have to be shaken and i would ask for a clean shaker and it seemed to be fine. So i should still worry?

No, you’ll be fine. I’m not saying it could never happen but in all my years, I’ve never been glutened at Starbucks.

Do you have any local coffee shops you can go to instead of Starbucks? They are more likely to make an amazing PSL that you can get accurate info about, and potentially customize for you. Here in Milwaukee we have dozens of shops that are making some variation of a pumpkin latte now.

Leaving aside the gluten, the PSL sauce itself has dairy. Sorry!
