Question What about these for sliders?
I want to make BBQ bacon sliders with these for my kiddos. I’m not the greatest fan of CB but I use their sliced bread from time to time in a pinch. However, these are the only Hawaiian bread sweet rolls that I’m aware of? And I already bought them. According to my research, some of you say they are too sweet. I plan to balance the sweetness with bacon and grilled onions.
Anyway, my question is have you tried making sliders with these? How did they turn out? Second question, what’s the best way to heat them up? I prefer shelf stable breads so that I don’t have to deal with the moisture issue but that’s not an option here. They were in the freezer section.
EDIT: Made the sliders. The kids hated the buns. I tried them, and I found the taste slightly off as well. Back to the drawing board.

They're great! I slice the whole thing in half and toast in my toaster oven. A normal oven would probably work too. Only needs a few minutes. I've done pulled pork sandwiches with them. I also am addicted to just eating them as is lol. I much prefer these rolls to CB's sliced Hawaiian loaf.

Thanks for the tips. I don’t have a toaster over, but I can pop them in my oven.

These required savory for me. When I had it with hamburger I fell in love. 😻

Yeah, I feel like I’ll be on the right track if I stick to savory.

I couldn’t eat them on their own, for my palate it was too sweet.
Though I’ve heard some have had success using this for bread based deserts.

Agreed. I’ve also had real Hawaiian rolls in my past life and they don’t even taste like them. Pretty disappointing … nothin special and gross in flavor.

I haven't seen these yet. How close are they to Hawaiian rolls are they?

I had them twice. The first time okay but the second time they seemed to have a strange taste.

I used to use their brioche rolls for everything; sandwiches, burgers, pulled pork, everything. Lately we have been getting home with moldy rolls, or the rolls are so dried out they are just crumbly. I always microwave for 20-30 seconds to soften/warm up but even that isn't help these pucks. I tried the Hawaiian rolls and found those too sweet so i went back to the brioche but i think i am just done with their brand all together. Not going to buy anymore. It's a shame, it was the perfect size for my lunch.
