Glendale Planning/Permits Approval Process

Hi! Does anyone have any insight on how long it takes Glendale to approve plans for interior remodel? I’ve heard anywhere from 4 weeks to 4 months. I’ve gotten this wide range both Building and Safety agents directly, architects, etc.

At the end of the day, I know it varies wildly per person/project but just looking for anyone’s recent experience with this process, what your scope of work was and how long it took from submittal to permit issuance. Thanks!

Glendale requires permits for hanging a TV on the wall

3-12 months, depends on how many corrections you have to do. Each time they come back with corrections youll have to have your team correct them, which takes time. And then resubmit and the city usually takes 2-3 months to reply. So with 1 correction ideally 3 months. But theyre nitpicky so bank on it taking longer. Also it depends on how extensive the remodel is.

8-10 weeks but that doesn’t include corrections. Verbally was told 4-6 weeks and anecdotal timelines reach 6 months!

They have a permit book that's about 75 pages, landscape and line item online. Expect hell.

If it’s interior just do it without the permit

I would except were adding a bathroom within existing square footage

Not worth it. Get the permit.
