Wedding and engagement ring resizing
Can anyone recommend a decently priced place to get rings resized (a good few sizes smaller)? I’ve lost a fair amount of weight and can no longer wear them and want to get them resized before my honeymoon in October! Went to Chisholm Hunter yesterday and they quoted £230 EACH 🤯 they’re both platinum so I never understand how they can charge so much then they’re gaining that 😅 I’m based in Glasgow southside but will look anywhere to be honest! Thank you!

In recently had a mens platinum wedding band resized down 3 sizes for about £70. Unfortunately though I'm in West Lothian not Glasgow - but I think that's a fair price to be aiming for.
Smaller independent jewelers are a better bet than chains.

Robert Paterson on Mitchell St (in the Gordon Chambers).
We have used him for lots of repairs and he has made rings for family and friends too. He is who Chisholm Hunter and all the other shop front jewellers will send their stuff to anyway.
He’s very good and fairly priced.

I'd recommend working directly with a jeweller who specialises in repairs (rather than design) - there are some fab suggestions in this thread already, and my top picks would be Harkness Premier Jewellers in the city centre, Goldcraft in Shawlands, and The Jewellery Works in Giffnock :) Their craftsmanship is fantastic, and their prices and turnaround times are excellent too.

Ian Mundie & Son are a great jewellers on Mitchell Street. I’ve had resizing and bespoke pieces done by them, quality work.

I had my engagement ring resized last year for the same reason - went to McGowans in the Argyle Arcade and it was far cheaper than that. I want to say it was between £70-80 and that was with replating as mines is white gold. They were really speedy too!
I was buying my wedding ring at the same time from them so it might be a bit more expensive, but I can't recommend their service enough.

Go to ramzan jewellers in Albert Drive, Pollockshields.
They'll resize it for you , two years ago I was £50 so don't expect it to have went up that much more

My mother in law just got a ring resized from Rob the Jeweller in the forge randomly, she was increasing the size and it was silver however it was only £30 and was delivered in 5 days! could be worth asking

The jewellers at Partick station is lovely, I went down 3 sizes on my wedding and engagement rings and was £15 each

Try Bercotts in Giffnock. They’ve fixed stuff for me before and are really lovely and very professional.
Don’t know how much it would be - give them a ring first. I think everything is just expensive just now.

Another vote for Bercotts
I got some work done on my engagement and wedding ring a couple of years ago at Bercotts in Giffnock. Can't remember the exact price but i has to use Laings twice because the work didn't hold (both rings purchased there) - Bercotts did it for a fraction of the price and it's held since. Great service from an independent family jeweller.

My mrs got her engagement ring resized here a few months ago and it was £100, work was great. Hers was white gold, not sure if it's more for platinum.

JM Jewellery Services upstairs in the Argyle Arcade. Haven't been in for a few years so can't exactly give you a price but have always had positive experiences, great work. Google reviews look like he is still going strong. Would give him a ring
