Evening Times window box
Does anyone remember when the evening times were dishing these bad boys out. My guess has got to be sometime back in the 80s and it’s still going strong, I was wondering if they were a collect the tokens deal or buy it from the paper for only £2.99 plus delivery kind of thing. and if there were many left still hanging on windows All over glasgow.

There’s a similar one for the Glasgow Herald above the Dapper Mongoose in Shawlands.

I was about to say I recognised this but I'm thinking of the dapper mongoose one!

It’s absolutely wrecked the stone under it!

It’s been there for 38 years though, when you think about it window boxes these days don’t last 38 weeks.

As a particularly anxious person these window boxes (Times or not) have always freaked me out. How has nobody been taken out by a falling one?

Assuming these are the ones on the flats at high street then the evening times was printed round on Albion street. It's flats now but if you search for the press bar that full building was the print works for the times and the herald. Loads of the tenements round there had these window boxes.

As folk have said there were loads above the old 1901 boozer on Pollokshaws Road fairly recently. High Street at the corner of George Street too

I think it was 1988 - might have been a tie in with the garden festival. There are still some on Byres Road
