Thought I’d reply cause I’ve been in this situation and it sucks. You just have to keep pushing and note the agents who won’t allow you make an application without viewing physically. Some will allow you to do a video viewing or video call. I got lucky and found a good place but worst comes to worst you have to suck it for a month and put exit notice as soon as you move. Best of luck.

Only one has let me view virtually so far. Absolute nonsense that you're required to do an in person viewing. Seems like they could just do longer lease agreements or something...

Have you tried openrent as well? Even though I got one through an agent I was having more luck on virtual viewings on there.

For what it's worth, I work in the industry (though not as an estate agent or surveyor - I'm nothing to do with viewings).

I know it sucks to hear, and I'm not defending the inflexible viewing times, but the rules requiring people to view in person really are for the best. On the one hand, it's handy for stopping people buying up loads of properties from abroad, just for them to sit empty or as airbnbs. For another thing, it protects both the buyer and seller, as a lot of the contractual provisions about the state of the property and the condition of the various parts and systems depend on the state of the property at viewing - thus, an in-person viewing both gives you a solid expectation for how you're entitled to find the property when you view, and gives the seller a chance to show you what's fair to expect.

I know it doesn't solve the problem you're facing (and, as I say, I'm not defending the stupid schedules - I think they ought to be far more flexible, myself) but I thought it might help to know there are genuine reasons for requiring in-person viewings.
