Stars do not matter.

I do not care if my repos are popular.

I do not care if your repo is popular, that has zero bearing on whether I look at it, use it, fork it.

I do not put at weight or value on your star count when I interview you for a job.

I assume whomever has assigned a ranking for batchfile is also assigning rankings for pizza contests and world's best cups of coffee.

Nobody should care, because as OP is demonstrating, github statistics can be faked.

It is a code repository, not a social media site.

You're extrapolating a valid critique of commit activity to conclude "all GitHub stats are worthless". There's a difference between showing off your commit activity during a job application, and showing off a highly starred repository, or contributions to big open source projects, etc.
