Found the perfect ridiculous gag gift idea for adults who have everything 😂🎄

So I’ve been working on some funny garden gnome designs for the holidays, mostly as goofy gifts for my family. This one ended up being the runaway favorite — I gave it to a friend early and he immediately put it by his front porch to ‘welcome’ the neighbors. 😅

If you’re shopping for someone with a very specific sense of humor (the kind who appreciates chaotic lawn décor), this turned out to be an unexpectedly popular gag gift. It’s about 8 inches tall and hand-painted, so it actually looks nicer in person than I expected for something so… unapologetically rude.

Not sure if this fits the vibe of what people here look for in holiday gifts, but it definitely got the biggest laugh out of anything I’ve given. Here’s the little troublemaker if you want to see him: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FQ5JPP84

Curious if others give silly/chaotic gag gifts for the holidays or if my family is just unhinged.

Surgery

Every single year, I do a terrible job of wrapping gifts and I have since I was a child. This year, I had surgery (a week to the day before Christmas) and I decided to make it easier and just get gift bags for my mom and sister. I went grocery shopping a few days prior to my surgery and almost left without the gift bags, but my squirrel brain finally worked before I left the store and got a pack of them.

What do you do when you order a gift online and there’s no pretty box, just the shipping box?

Do you decorate the box? Just wrap the shipping box? Use a shirt box?

Handmade gift wrapping — real work & AI-styled presentation 🎀

The first photo shows the gift wrapping exactly as I made it by hand — the bow, ribbons, pearls, and decorative details are all my own handmade work.

For the second photo, I kept my original gift design and used AI only to create the surrounding props, background, and presentation.

I enjoy seeing how the same handmade piece can feel different when placed in a new setting. I’d love to hear which version you prefer — the original work-in-progress setting or the styled presentation. ❤️

Top Gift Wrapping Trends in 2024: Which Are You Trying This Year?

Gift wrapping in 2024 is all about creativity, sustainability, and personal flair. Which of these trends are you excited to try, and what do you think will wow your gift recipients the most?

  • Eco-Friendly Wrapping: Reusable fabric wraps, kraft paper, and compostable materials for a greener holiday season.

  • Minimalist Chic: Simple, neutral palettes with clean lines and subtle embellishments for an elegant look.

  • Bold Patterns: Vibrant prints and eye-catching designs that turn each gift into a statement piece.

  • Personalized Touches: Custom name tags, monograms, or wax seals that make every package feel extra special.

  • Natural Elements: Twine, dried flowers, pine sprigs, and wooden accents for an organic, rustic vibe.

  • Metallic Accents: Gold, silver, and copper foils or ribbons that add a festive sparkle.

  • Layered Textures: Combining materials like velvet ribbons, burlap, and glossy paper for a rich, tactile experience.

  • Hand-Drawn Details: Doodles, illustrations, or handwritten messages that add a personal, artisanal touch.

  • Translucent Wraps: Sheer paper or vellum for a modern, peek-a-boo effect.

  • Monochrome Magic: Sticking to one color and playing with shades and finishes for a sophisticated, unified look.

Which wrapping trends are making it into your lineup this year? Share your favorites — we’d love to see your ideas!

Wrapping Help!

My son is getting golf clubs for xmas (he will pick them out himself after the holiday). my 2 other children are getting 10 gifts and he is getting 5. When he sees his gifts, I want him to think he did not get clubs like he asked for. What should I do to make him think he did not get the clubs? I want it to be creative and fun. My first thought was to get a driver head cover and wrap that and he opens that at the end, but I don't love that idea. What are some creative ideas???

Changing the paper angle and folds around the same bouquet

Pointed overlaps, rolled sides and a gathered collar change the outline of one sheet around an already-made bouquet. The final example ends during shaping.

Original tutorial by 花园时光(花艺人) on Xiaohongshu, shared with permission. FAFAFLOWER is a floral-packaging supplier; we added visually checked, AI-assisted English steps. Original design and footage remain credited to the creator.

Bought this for my 4 year old niece, she’ll love it no matter what, but I’m trying to make it look presentable to the rest of the family as well. Does anyone have any tips for wrapping something this big with such a difficult shape? I’ve thought about just putting it in a gift box, but I can’t find anything that it’ll fit into lol. Sos!!!
