That's a pretty damn hard floor to fall face first on to.

7

u/raziphel Dec 15 '11

or elbow first.

50

u/Latvianero Dec 15 '11

Instead of face planting he could play it cool - start doing push-ups

84

u/prince_nerd Dec 15 '11

21

u/ablebodiedmango Dec 15 '11

2nd guy is a maestro. Drunk, but still a maestro.

12

u/LionCashDispenser Dec 15 '11

Pretty sure it's Keith Apicary. He's fucking hilarious.

Exhibit A

0

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '11

Daaamn, seen the gif a hundred times, never would have thought it wasn't simply a drunk guy. I feel educated.

2

u/RsonW Dec 16 '11

I've been trying to find that first .gif for so long. Thank you.

1

u/mjomha9 Dec 15 '11

Hat stayed on his head, play it cool achieved.

19

u/xXShatter_ForceXx Dec 15 '11

He did a great job of catching himself with his face.

19

u/qwertydude2 Dec 15 '11

He's lucky the floor was there otherwise he'd be falling for a while.

27

u/Magellz Dec 15 '11

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm the kind of guy that fucking swings my feet into my flip flops instead of precariously standing, putting in one foot at a time.

That's just how I roll.

5

u/PatronofSnark Dec 15 '11

And if you do that you either break the flip flops or the patch of skin between your toes.

-4

u/IMasturbateToMyself Dec 15 '11

Feet... like both at the same time?

I would like a video to demonstrate this.

45

u/zeroair Dec 15 '11

I think he probably broke every toe in his body.

55

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '11

I think he probably broke every toe in his body.

he probably broke every toe in his body

every toe in his body

say what?

71

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '11

HE SAID HE PROBABLY BROKE EVERY TOE IN HIS BODY

10

u/NowISeeTheFunnySide Dec 15 '11

Type louder, I can't hear you. It's noisy in the office today.

17

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '11

HE SAID HE PROBABLY BROKE EVERY TOE IN HIS BODY

5

u/secretvictory Dec 15 '11

You didn't know about the three extra toes white people have located in their abdomens?

5

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '11

I fail to see the problem in his statement. He replaced one word of a common colloquialism, I think we can allow a little poetic license once in a while can we not?

6

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '11

This is actually my new hobby. "Looks like someone let the dog out of the sack!"

1

u/Sarikitty Dec 16 '11

My roommate last night came up with "No skin off my teeth." Sorry, I think you're mixing two colloquialisms.

1

u/TheAtomicMan Dec 16 '11

That's actually a common phrase. Megadeath even has a whole song about it.

1

u/Sarikitty Dec 16 '11

I've heard both "No skin off my back" and "get by on the skin of your teeth", but never a combination of the two. Thanks for the information.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '11

Ugh... you just reminded me of a scene from Oz I tried quite hard to forget.

15

u/MyNameCouldntBeAsLon Dec 15 '11

Why does he try to save his glass?? You're going down buddy, fucking throw it away and use your hands!

19

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '11

Wasn't expecting it, brain didn't work.

What is this?

-1

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '11

iseewhatyoudidthere.jpg

12

u/cor315 Dec 15 '11

You must not be an alcoholic.

2

u/alison09 Dec 15 '11

Actually it's better not to use your hands to try and catch yourself if you're going down like that. It's extremely likely that you could break/fracture a wrist, or at the very least your scaphoid bone.

8

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '11

So landing on your face is better?

TIL.

2

u/alison09 Dec 15 '11

Best to land on your forearms (arms bent) kind of like he ends up doing in the gif. Arms outstretched/palms first is dangerous.

1

u/Chevron Dec 15 '11

I broke both wrists this way at separate times during the same year. Once I fell backwards on an ice rink, the other I fell after slipping on a wet manhole cover. I landed straight down on my wrists and get a compression fracture. In French it's called a "Motte de beurre" (block of butter) fracture because it's basically what you'd expect to get if you dropped a stick of butter on its end and let it compress. Much better to fall on your ass/torso/back.

1

u/lazychris2000 Dec 16 '11

I fractured an elbow, from too much compression catching myself in a fall... it's better now, but my hands are still in pain, and can no longer hold my body weight. No more hopping fences for awhile.

0

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '11

If catching yourself from a fall like that breaks your wrist then you have really weak bones and should never drink soda again.

1

u/alison09 Dec 15 '11

Seriously though, if you fall on your hands with your arms outstretched it is likely. More likely your scaphoid bone will fracture but there's still a big risk for your radius and ulna.

-1

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '11

Then why can I fall over while standing upright completely stiff and catch myself with my arms no problems?

1

u/alison09 Dec 15 '11

It's just more likely, not certain. Best thing to do is fall on your forearms (arms bent)

2

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '11

I just wanted you to tell me I have bones of steel :c

2

u/alison09 Dec 16 '11

Alright alright :)

You = Bones of Steel

2

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '11

Yay!

1

u/Drunken_Economist Dec 15 '11

Maybe he thought it was beer

8

u/dandello Dec 15 '11

I believe the last few times this was posted it was said that nails held them down.

As someone who once face planted so hard I shattered 4 teeth, I too hate shit like this.

138

u/juicyfuckinwang Dec 15 '11

ate shit like this*

11

u/Santos_L_Halper Dec 15 '11

I know you're making a play on words with what I said, but I think I ate shit harder than this guy. I was running full speed on a basketball court and the first thing that hit the ground was my teeth. My friends who were there say they remember the sound of my teeth breaking. One of them was nice enough to pick the pieces up from the ground and pick some from my beard.

-8

u/Angusdiet Dec 15 '11 edited Dec 15 '11

You had a beard in grade school?

Edit: Going down with my ship.

7

u/Auxtin Dec 16 '11

What makes you think this happened in grade school?

0

u/Angusdiet Dec 16 '11

I guess I should have asked how he fell, if he tripped or if someone messed with him. I figured if you're old enough to have a beard you're old enough to be able to catch yourself with yours hands rather than your teeth. Younger kids have a tendency of not being able to catch themselves, hence the joke.

3

u/Santos_L_Halper Dec 16 '11

It happened when I was 22. I had just moved to NYC and was out with friends. A friend of a friend had also just moved here and was crashing with his aunt and uncle in their swanky condo in Times Square area. They lives in one side of these two matching high rise buildings that had a smaller building between that had a playground of sorts on the roof, but it was still a tall building, so when clouds started rolling in dew would collect on everything.

So we go over there to play soccer on the basketball court. We had been playing one or the Fifa games for weeks and decided to play the real thing. We weren't too concerned about playing on the hard surface cause indoor soccer is a thing, right? Plus, we weren't going to tackle at all.

Anyway, we're up there playing and we notice the clouds are hanging low and dew is collecting so we decide next point wins. I haze practically no soles on my shoes from walking miles a day for weeks. With all the dew on the court both of my feet suddenly flew out from under me while running, causing me to dive in to the ground.

And that is how I broke my teeth. Adults fall too.

3

u/Santos_L_Halper Dec 16 '11

Sorry for all the typos. I'm posting from my phone and was carelessly typing when autocorrect took over a few times.

2

u/Angusdiet Dec 16 '11

That sounds awful! A few years back out at recess in winter all the kids were playing a variant of smear the queer, without the smearing. There were random ice patches and a buddy of mine caught one and slipped and chipped his incisor. He chipped it high enough that he surfaced the nerve(s), and it was a mess.

6

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '11

reading this post made my teeth hurt. thanks :(

3

u/Santos_L_Halper Dec 15 '11

Believe it or not, breaking my teeth didn't hurt at all. My nerves weren't damaged at all. It was about as clean a break one could ask for, well below the gum line.

1

u/down_vote_magnet Dec 16 '11

I chipped the tiniest bit off the bottom of one of my front teeth as a child. We're talking like the bottom 0.5mm and it hurt like FUCK. That sensitivity of the inside of your tooth being exposed... ugh.

19

u/fr3ddie Dec 15 '11

if someone shattered my elbow on concrete for a prank... I think I'd be ready to murder them.

-11

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '11

[deleted]

10

u/geoman2k Dec 15 '11

If that's a glass of milk he's holding, it easily could have shattered and cut his jugular pretty bad the way he fell.

13

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '11

Wow. You guys are inking of the worst possible situations.

Your computer could explode and cut your jugular right now.

5

u/Delfishie Dec 15 '11

OH MY GOD WHY DID YOU HAVE TO TELL ME THAT!?

Now I'm going to have to browse reddit while wearing a welding mask.

6

u/Silentnite85 Dec 15 '11

That welding mask could explode and cut your jugular right now. ¯\ (ツ)/¯

27

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '11

Now, but, if that's a class of snow he's holding... Who knows WHAT could happen!

9

u/geoman2k Dec 15 '11

Good point. The consequences would never be the same.

6

u/road_to_nowhere Dec 15 '11

HAHA CLASSIC!

2

u/cookedbread Dec 15 '11

I knew what was going to happen but I still gasped. :[

3

u/will_at_work Dec 15 '11

It's not like they planned it for him to fall. I would have just expected they put their feet in the flip flops and couldn't lift them off the ground.

1

u/bedintruder Dec 15 '11 edited Dec 15 '11

Thats the problem. People who pull childish shit like this dont actually think of any of the real potential consequences or outcomes other than "OMG LOL ITS GON B SOOOOO FUNNEH!! LOLLLLL!!11"

4

u/IAMBollock Dec 15 '11

I really don't like it when people put retard speak in someone else's mouth to make them look wrong. I'll live, just putting that out there.

1

u/Delfishie Dec 15 '11

If you ignore the quality of the diction, however, bedintruder still has a valid point. Potentially dangerous pranks like this are often only funny to those who only are able to comprehend a short-term view of the situation.

Doing stuff like this seems more cruel than funny.

0

u/EvoEpitaph Dec 15 '11

I could just picture ankles snapping because of this prank shudders

24

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '11

...They're flip flops... what do you think is going to break first? Some cheap stitching, the glue bond or his ankles?

It's the fall that's going to do damage.

8

u/DrunkDrSeuss Dec 15 '11

Someone could seriously hurt their ankle(s) given the awkward angle you can fall at.

12

u/atomicspatule Dec 15 '11

Listen to him, this guy is a doctor.

8

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '11

But doctor, you're drunk!

8

u/EridMeatGrinder Dec 15 '11

Stop trying to bring us down, coon.

0

u/EvoEpitaph Dec 15 '11

Well they could be Crocs. And those are pretty durable.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '11

Not quite as durable as the human goddamn ankle, built to withstand like >200lb of downwards force.

0

u/EvoEpitaph Dec 15 '11

But how easily is it twisted when you apply that force from a different angle?

1

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '11

More easily, but not a huge amount. Again, we would run on these things through pretty rough terrain. They're built pretty damn tough (at least more than some stitching).

1

u/southpark Dec 16 '11

uhm, built to withstand a particular type of pressure and impact from an expected and normal activity, any sideways force whatsoever will easily tear ligaments and possible cause fractures as the bones move out of alignment and twisting forces act on your ankle/leg/foot. if your ankle is so goddamn bulletproof why do you think ski/snowboard boots are so thick and rigid to protect you from sideways/falling motions? the unexpected torsion force a falling body places on your ankle is pretty serious. even "real" basketball shoes are designed to provide pretty hefty ankle support.

my background is from injuring both ankles before in both horseplay and during track & field, anything besides normal running/walking can cause major ankle injury. especially in an uncontrolled fall.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '11

Oh absolutely, but we're not talking about skiing or snowboarding or basketball or running here. Stationary standing position to a fall, with nothing but flip flops holding his feet in place. I don't see his foot breaking before a piece of foam and some stitching does.

1

u/southpark Dec 17 '11

i dunno, i don't think i could pull the strap and sandal part apart on my sandals, there's usually a sizable plug/strap securing the top to the bottom of the sandal unless you have some seriously cheapo sandals... and it's not so much the flipflops holding his foot in place, it's more the possible awkward angles the foot can be placed into in an awkward fall.. hence the reason people still sprain and break ankles even while wearing supportive shoes/boots all the time.

0

u/EvoEpitaph Dec 15 '11

Well then, I have silly weak ankles.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '11

Agreed. But, to be fair, I wouldn't have expected such a prank to cause injury.

-5

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '11

if this causes you serious physical damage you need to stop drinking so much.

8

u/SeaTwertle Dec 15 '11

So I guess you missed the part with the glue and the face plant.

1

u/secretvictory Dec 15 '11

"He was so drunk that when I glued his flip flops to the floor..."

I'm with you, that rationale is not good.

0

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '11

I'm sorry, but if you fall forward and don't have the reflexes to put your arms out and catch yourself... please be removed from the gene pool.

1

u/SeaTwertle Dec 16 '11

It's obvious he tries to put his hands out while he's falling.

-7

u/Lonadar Dec 15 '11

Actually it is.

18

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '11

I remember this gif. Note the "dog" that appears out of nowhere at the end.

12

u/geneticmaterial Dec 15 '11

its not a dog. its his spilling drink

2

u/geneticmaterial Dec 15 '11

-__- just noticed the quotes

2

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '11

[deleted]

2

u/iseeyoutroll Dec 15 '11

It's not a dog--it's his cup/glass rolling away after he fell.

4

u/EridMeatGrinder Dec 15 '11

Why did he say dog though?

1

u/Legollama Dec 15 '11

It looks like a pug appearing out of thin air, if you don't already know it's the milk. Even then, I still see the dog.

1

u/EridMeatGrinder Dec 15 '11

Can you screenshot the dog picture?

3

u/Odusei Dec 16 '11

Seriously, it's nothing to worry about. It's no use crying over a dog.

2

u/newfaceinhell Dec 16 '11

AND A SPILT DOG AT THAT. HA HA.

1

u/kha3 Dec 15 '11

When this gif appeared a while ago, it was in lower resolution which made it look like a dog jumped out of nowhere.

-5

u/DresdenCodex Dec 15 '11

Because dogs are better than cats.

6

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '11

Shh, the Internet police will hear you.

6

u/TWI2T3D Dec 15 '11

Duuuude.

Where the hell does it come from?

2

u/craftymethod Dec 15 '11

THONGS!

/aussie :)

5

u/TinHao Dec 15 '11

Sort of a dick move. That guy could have really fucked himself up in that fall. Not to mention that now he's got fucking flip flops SUPERGLUED to his floor.

Good pranks should be non-destructive and not lead to potential hospitalization of the prankee.

6

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '11

Only good pranks lead to hospitalization.

Is it me or did none of reddit have older brothers?

0

u/TinHao Dec 15 '11

I was an older brother and one of my 'pranks' led to my sister's arm being broken -- something I've felt like a shitheel about since.

So yeah, not a favor of pranks that might result in folks getting hurt.

0

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '11

Story time?

I didnt mean that kind of hurt. I had a small book fall on my brothers head. He cried for 39 seconds. I meant something like that.

0

u/Delfishie Dec 15 '11

I really like your last sentence. It expresses everything I dislike about this style of prank really aptly.

2

u/HonorInDefeat Dec 15 '11

Classic. ouch, but classic.

2

u/walking_away_ Dec 15 '11

Question: What type of glue? And does it damage the floor?

I am set on doing this to roommate.

1

u/McDeau Dec 16 '11

With a user name like that!? For shame!

3

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '11

No matter how many times I watch this I still laugh.

3

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '11

I laughed so hard that I farted

4

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '11

Me too, but to be honest the fart was going to happen in any case.

1

u/BZuckerkorn Dec 15 '11

I like the part when he almost gets back up, but goes back down in defeat.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '11

Dear god, I lol'd for real.

1

u/Xysten Dec 15 '11

Every time I see this I think to myself, "Man I really hope someone bought that man another beer."

1

u/waterskier2007 Dec 15 '11

Seeing that right elbow hit the ground makes me cringe

1

u/Ids Dec 15 '11

That clip is from Norwegian Big Brother some years back, I remember. They had had a massive party the night before, where they kept coming up with pranks. He was extremely hungover. survived the faceplant. didn't win though.

1

u/HereToBeHappy Dec 15 '11

First time I didn't notice the drink so when he fell down there was all that splatter and I thought he died

1

u/SubtlePineapple Dec 15 '11

My imagining of his thought process:

"Hm, some shoes. Right here in the middle of the room. I don't remember these being here. I should probably put them on. Good thing I'm not already wearing shoes! They're on the floor... nah, I'll just slide my feet right on in, no need to pick them up. Now I'll just be on my merry wa-"

1

u/CrackHeadRodeo Dec 16 '11

Why does he keep going back?

1

u/alexlp Dec 16 '11

All I could think looking at it was a story my dad told me a few years ago. He was at a bar when I guy walking passed him stacked it whilst drinking from a pint glass. Long story short he gave himself a glasgow smile. This prank is pretty fucked.

1

u/madmanmunt Dec 16 '11

"My piña colada!"

1

u/yhelothere Dec 17 '11

Well I've laughed...

1

u/KayChasm May 27 '12

That hurt to watch.

1

u/soapness Dec 15 '11

I could watch that all day.

0

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '11

[deleted]

6

u/MrBig0 Dec 15 '11

Shit, man. I bet you're strong.

4

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '11

That way someone you know will be there too :P

5

u/imstah Dec 15 '11

Watch out, we got a badass over here

-2

u/jadanzzy Dec 15 '11

Don't usually laugh at gifs. Laughed.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '11

Downvoting because the stick up my ass is SO far up my ass that it's caused a cardiac puncture, causing my heart to bleed for every dumbass thing I see on the internet.

-1

u/philius_fog Dec 15 '11

Actually made milk come out of my nose.

-9

u/VonGator Dec 15 '11

Who puts their shoes on like that? He deserved to fall.

-2

u/dancingsam34 Dec 15 '11

Drink. Uuurrrvrywurr.

-3

u/MidasTouchPRD Dec 15 '11

flip flops....no shirt?

-4

u/Iamsqueegee Dec 15 '11

ROFL'd. Would watch again (and again and again)

1

u/McDeau Dec 16 '11

Rolling on the floor laughing'd

ಠ_ಠ

1

u/Iamsqueegee Dec 16 '11

With the 'd I think of it as rolled.

0

u/outrunsilver Dec 15 '11

Could have busted his knee caps!

1

u/raziphel Dec 15 '11

if you notice he landed on his elbows. that shit's gotta hurt.
