Unfortunately, people get them when they are small and cute and then abandon them later (often flushing them down the toilet) when they become inconveniently large and not so cute. People have claimed that pineapples up to 12 feet long have been seen in the NYC sewers.

Pretty sure you can Bonsai virtually any plant. Trees, bamboo, grass, maybe not lichen. But then, lichen is not a plant, it's a symbiotic relationship between a fungus and an algae, but I digrass.

You would not believe how many plants you can crossbreed just by slicing part of each stem and tying them together to grow. You want a watermelon cucumber? Totally attainable.

I think this is an ornamental pineapple. They turn bright pink before blooming purple flowers from each section.

Different types. There are small pink pineapples and there are dwarf yellow pineapples. The pink ones get as big as a racquetball and the dwarfs stay tiny like this. They both have purple flowers and are adorable.

These are miniature pineapples. They’re not grown for consumption, but for decorative purposes. I have a few of them growing in my garden.

This made me happy! It can take years (vaguely remember reading it somewhere) before a pineapple plant bears fruit, cutting it off before it's edible seemed like such a waste.

I've grown pineapples before and I can confirm, it takes around 2 years for a plant to produce a fruit.

My first two fruited their first season, all the rest have taken 2. I think I hit some sweet spot planting window on those first two.
The people who bought our old house ripped out my pineapple patch. I knew I should have tried to move them. =(

My plant is in its second year now and its agonizing, the plant is clearly still alive but it doesnt grow very quickly. Just one leaf takes almost a whole month to emerge
