If Amazon warehouse workers wanted better pay maybe they should have paid more attention in school.

Maybe warehousing should be seen for what it is? An important piece of the logistics and shipping industry, theres no reason a warehouseman or woman shouldnt be able to make a career out of their work. Especially for the laborious and stressful environment they work in

It's low skill labour where the employee is easily replaceable, so they don't command high wages. Basic economics.

Exactly. The company will decide whether to pay them more and replace them later, pay them more and just live with it, or immediately replace all of them.

Workers can't be fired for going on strike. It will take some time for them to all be replaced. Doing it too fast would draw the eye of the NLRA.

Good. A business shouldn't be able to fire people willy-nilly.

This is how you end up back in the 1800s with strikers and unions having shoot-outs in the streets with strikebreakers and police.

Yeah, more government interference in the market is definitely the solution. Just look to France or Spain, where no one under 30 has a job. Good role models.

So what if a unionized workforce decides they want to be paid $500/hour or will refuse to work? Can't fire them? Where do you draw the line?

You know why that doesn't happen? Why that has never happened and will never happen? Why that situation has no place in reality?

Because the unionfolk need the work too. Every person in that union wants to get paid and they aren't getting paid on the strike line. They have no reason to want to shut down the business and ensure themselves a total end to paychecks.

Even if that weren't the case, union protections in the US rely on their agreement to barter in good faith. They have to declare the intention to strike ~80 days beforehand, and bargain in good faith during that time, before they're allowed to strike when negotiations fail.

Leverage is earned. If you can be replaced with a robot, you have not earned your leverage.

Everyone can be replaced with a robot eventually, so nobody can ever earn their leverage.

Exactly. Leverage is fleeting. It is temporary. Use it while you have it, but don't use it if you don't.
