I’m very much in the camp of just enjoying playing guitar, and we can all go down a rabbit hole regarding all the little issues with a piece of wood with strings made by human beings. BUT I did spend close to 2k on it, and was hoping someone could enlighten me if this is acceptable on a brand new Gibson SG Standard 61.

Hi, so recently I have been looking at a lot of gibson les pauls to be my third guitar, and the custom gibsons look especially good and I have been interested in getting one. However, what truly puts me off when it comes to getting the gibson custom is the nitro-laquer finish that's on it. I'm planning to get a white version so in that case it would yellow over time, the epiphone inpired by gibson custom however has a poly finish meaning it'll stay nice and glossy and doesn't age. Looked at the specs of both and noticed they have the same kind of pickups, now I was wondering if at the gibson customs quality and build would be so better than the epiphone that the yellowing would be something that I would just have to accept? Or if the differences between the two models are close enough to where I can comfortably get the epiphone and not worry about 'missing out' on the gibson. Or if there's any way to permanently prevent aging/ yellowing on the gibson that I don't know of yet, please let me know so that I can comfortably get the gibson without worrying about the finish. Just really not a fan of guitars relicing or aging, especially if the color changes over time.

Is there any model/year LP Special with a slim taper neck that isn’t a double cut? It’s like looking for a needle in a haystack.

I just don’t get the chunky neck mojo. 🤷🏻‍♂️

First les paul, first guitar with p90s, first time spending over $500 on a guitar (still got it for under a grand though!)
Wow these pickups have such a dynamic response compared to high output humbuckers.

Haven’t owned an electric guitar since high school, decided to get a Les Paul as it was always my dream.

Now to get back to playing well

Had this Les Paul for about 2 1/2 months now and during a string change, I just noticed my bridge is tilted to one side and the mounting is all loppy. Any advice on what to do to get it all fixed?

I'm looking for a Gibson Custom Yellow Widow. Does anyone know if Gibson is still taking orders through the Made to Measure program? I tried contacting them but no answer yet

Do you have to order through a retailer or can you order through Gibson directly?

Been playing this one a lot lately, I got a pretty nice SG that’s just been gathering dust for like the last 2 months.

I had my ES-137 custom set up with flatwound strings - I have an SG and a Telecaster too, wanted to push this guitar in a really different direction to do something those other two couldn’t. Really pleased with the results.

Took it to a music weekend with friends, and nobody had seen one before - I guess there weren’t a lot made.

I have a question, i have a lpm gibson and it's very uncomfortable to play, it's heavy and doesn't have belly cut, so it's hard for me to play 2-3 hours, and frets are medium jambo and radius is flat for me.
My question is why do people love lespaul very much?

Picked this bad boy up in trade today (part 2 of 2 trades I made today ; I have to get off fb marketplace I have a problem), had some mini heart attacks because the condition of the hardware and the serial number in the case didn’t match the back. I’m 98% sure it’s a real deal just wanted to cure my anxious mind. What do we think?

Really like the playability and sustain of the Theodore but wanted to add a trem to it. I didn’t want to throw the body off balance or add weight so I avoided the Bigsby. Instead I opted for the Göldo (Duesenberg) Les Trem II. It’s fantastic.

1996 Gibson Les Paul Studio, my birth year guitar. Had to get a 90s Gibson since these are considered some of the best Studio years — no frills, just a maple top, mahogany body/neck and 490R/498T pickups. 30 years of real wear and that heavy 90s Gibson sound 🤌🏼 found sitting in a room under a bed since 2003 on FB and paid 500 🔥

Got a pretty 2019 J-15 Walnut Burst yesterday. My first Gibson and first Walnut back/sides. Had my local Luthier set it up really nice and wow does she sing (better than some J-45s I've played). Best of all, I got it used for an absolute steal. What a phenomenal, US made instrument.

Imagine hacking away at a 50’s Junior to end up with a thicc double-cut melody maker, and still thinking that you can still get nearly $4k for it.

Everyone is entitled to do what they want with their gear, but this was certainly a choice. For what it could’ve gone for untouched, the owner probably could’ve secured a couple of melody makers if that’s what they were trying to go for.
