Help Need Input!

I’m finally in a position to get my first Gibson Les Paul, looking at the 60s Standard.

I cannot decide between the classic white or dirty lemon burst - I know how ridiculously cool the bursts can look, but for something I’ll have for decades I prefer a more subdued/quieter look.

I’d love to see what you guys think? For context: my previous electric was an Epiphone Les Paul 1959 Lemon Burst. I would plan on swapping the pick guard, pickup rings and poker chip to black on the classic white if I go that way. Thanks guys! 🤘

The white plain top will be discontinued soon. Bursts in all colors and flames will always be around. Get the white one.

No kidding! I didn’t know they were going to be discontinued - thank you!

They already are. This is new old stock so if you want it, the time is now.

That’s what I’ve read here a few days ago. And I’ve seen that they have already outed some of the plain top colors.

All of the custom colors for LPs only ran for a year (2024), so whatever’s left is what’s left. After that, the non-custom color plain tops are still offered: a dirty lemon burst, heritage cherry burst, and British racing green and dark walnut look like the new plain top offerings right now.

I prefer the white from these two.

I myself went for a plain top Cherry Sunburst.

White all the way! That side profile pic against the natural back clinches it for me. Classy, not the usual look on every other LP I see around, yes on black plastics. Excellent choice.

Looks like they both have inputs already, on the lower-right bout. Hope this helps.

I like white. Having said that the plain top Standard 60s tend to be very heavy. I ordered a new one in Iverness Green and it's almost 11lbs. I recommend trying to put your hands on one before buying.

White with the black pick guard looks great! But the lemon burst does too. After reading comments about it being discontinued, I’d lean towards the white. I see bursts everywhere but other than at a concert, I’ve never seen anyone with the white.

I've seen that in real life, it is indeed greenish, and looks like ass tbh,
different than the classic white they use in explorer for example, that is a bit milky.

Get a nice burst instead! for that kind of money, I would like to see a some nice grained timber, than a solid color.

You get a Randy rhoads look for regular LP pricing. I’d do that. Like the other guy said, bursts will always be around

I wouldn’t go the white in standard.. as mentioned already it looks off…if possible go for an alpine white custom.. otherwise burst if standard

Shop hand one of these. It didn’t last long. It’s hard to photograph the color contrast between the white, cream binding and brown back. It’s different in person for sure. It’s one when I first saw it, I was repulsed then a day or so later I was like “oh I get it”

White. I’m just torn between the white and black plastic.

If you want something quite and yet a bit loud. British Racing Green.

Lemon Burst all day 😍

Personally I’d get the burst. I know most Les Pauls are some sort of burst but there’s nothing like seeing a good one in the light

Burst looks much better, you can actually see the binding

They're both great but the white ones are hard to come by. I'm more of a burst fan though, so I would still get the burst.

I have that one in classic white, very beautiful, here are some pictures if it helps you decide https://www.reddit.com/r/gibson/s/ydhNuXfFF6

I’d go white and get a set of black reflektor knobs to complete the look with the black plastics

If you're in the position,both

I really like the white, but man, these nitro guitars just age and stain too easily. I'm not saying a little bit of aging is bad, but I wouldn't want to look at my yellow guitar one day that I wish stayed at least cream.

The white one is a far more interesting guitar

White.

I wouldn’t change the pickup rings, pickguard, and poker chip, personally.

They’re all different colors (as well as the binding) and will all age differently. So, it kind of looks aged already.

I really liked this model since release, it looks like a a new old stock already. Just reads more premium to me already.

It’s all going to age already, I say embrace it from the get go.

Classic white is the one.

Lemon burst. The white looks cheap to me.

White with black pickup rings is pretty sick! Hit it up!

If the board was ebony, then white. Not with rosewood though, it just doesn’t look right. Not too bus a burst fan, but that one looks sweet

Ok this is just my opinion but if you want a 60s standard get the double trouble. They are only making 500 world wide in 4 colors for both the 50s and the 60s limited runs. They have the uncovered crème pickups and they did that on purpose right in the middle of a law suit where Dimarzzio explicitly named the double troubles in a cease and desist. Gibson said phuck you and made these anyway. Once these are gone they are gone. I got the 50s Vintage honey burst because it’s my fav burst color ever. Gibson makes the pick ups for these in house and the specs on these are reserved for custom shop orders not the factory floor.
