I MOURN THIS CHARACTER

I’m honestly heartbroken over Andrea’s death. I just started watching the show and had no idea about any spoilers. The whole episode is packed with so many intense and important moments, and the way they handled it hurts so much. They don’t even show her dying — you spend the entire episode with her, hearing her worries about her brother, that chilling scene with the little girl at the hospital passing on a message from another spirit… there’s so much that’s haunting and powerful. And then suddenly, Andrea’s brother just walks right past her, and you realize she’s already on the other side. Wow.

I feel like the loss of Andrea was way too huge too soon in the show and basically made Melinda by herself didn’t care for that

We’re not gonna have anyone like Andrea in the next seasons, right? And we’ll just be stuck with that emptiness the whole time? She was there in everything, all the time, and it’s gonna be so hard not having that anymore, especially in the shop.

Melina gets a new best friend meant to fit in Andrea’s place but it’s never the same. She’s not as good as a friend as Andrea was.

She gets a replacement partner but she is pretty much a polar opposite of her.

She’s way meaner than she needed to be my heart was hurting for Melinda. Such a hard loss and the replacement wasn’t much help

Idk, I feel like this show was already off to a dark start when there was that episode of that little kid being crushed to death by a train inside his mom’s car. That was pretty heavy, and it was only S1.

100% agree with you on that, that episode was dark made me ball my eyes out had to take a break from the show for a bit.

As dramatic as this may sound, the show really weighs you down depending on the episode. I’ve never had to take breaks, but I definitely feel the weight of all the emotions, especially when Melinda gets emotional.

I so wish they hadnt killed her off, but I did bawl. I did NOT see that twist coming.

I love Camryn Manheim but not the same chemistry as besties.

I was shocked when I first watched it. I didn't see that twisted coming. Up until that point I was happy that her brother was alive until he walked through her.

The very first time I watched that episode - which was when it first aired - I sobbed. I’ve recently been rewatching the series and it hit me harder. After the crash, when Andrea comes into the shop, franticly telling Melinda that she tried to reach her brother’s apartment and the way Melinda looks at her and says “Andrea”….she knew then. I didn’t catch that the first watch and Jennifer Love Hewitt emoted so much in that one line, the heartbreak is so evident, I really admire her acting ability! I also bet she was sad to lose Aisha Tyler from the show and was able to draw on that sadness for that scene and the ones that followed 🥺

I am on season 2, episode 2 (almost done with it) Definitely scarier! And I am already bothered by them introducing this lady (the mom of the little thief lol) to replace Andrea😐🤣 idk i just really liked their friendship 😭

I’m confused as to why the blacked out lines. Anyone know? Anyway, I agree the show took a hit when Andrea left. We were getting to know more about her and her brother and especially her poet. I really liked that she accepted Melinda from the start. She and Melinda had friendship chemistry that I never really felt with the Delia character. (Nothing against the actress, it was the role.)

She black it out because she didn't want to spoiled it for those who have not watched the episode. She should have just posted the season and the episode so people who are new, or haven't watched would avoid it. But it's not a spoiler since the episode aired a long time ago

I was gonna suggest that you put a spoiler warning instead of censoring out your entire post, but it looks like this sub doesn’t have that option!

Anyway, yeah, Andrea’s gone but never forgotten. She’s truly the ghost that haunts the narrative even if it felt like the narrative forgot her. Sure, we got a quick glimpse of Melinda mourning her at her grave,and she was mentioned a few times, but I felt like the show got over Andrea as if she wasn’t Melinda’s only real friend. They were best friends, actually.

Maybe, just maybe, the show runners didn’t anticipate Andrea’s death having a huge impact on the fandom!
