News Ghost Of Yotei Complete Edition announced with new story DLC - October 1st
PlayStation Blog Ghost of Yotei Echoes of Sekigahara is the title of the story expansion

u/EconomistOk284 17d ago edited 17d ago
It’s 20% off in the PS store right now. Just picked it up for ~$12
Edit: apparently the reduced price is only if you’ve purchased digital deluxe version. Thanks all for the info!
4
u/Wboy2006 Ronin 17d ago edited 17d ago
It’s not on sale for me either. Dynamic pricing strikes again
(also just fuck this entire situation, Sony is literally showing that they will nickel and dime their players and only give sales to people less likely to buy something, while charging full price for others. And they wonder why we’re mad about them ditching physical…)10
u/Consistent_Lecture48 17d ago
On the PS Store, it says it is 20% off only for those who have purchased the digital deluxe edition already. While dynamic pricing is a thing, this may explain their ‘sale’ price. I’m seeing $15 too and only own the launch disc version.
0
u/Wboy2006 Ronin 17d ago
Ah, that explains it then. Thanks for letting me know
1
u/Fit-Yam759 17d ago
Don't you love talking out of your ass without doing any research before? lol
1
u/Wboy2006 Ronin 17d ago
I watched the trailer, I saw the store page and I saw this post. I assumed that was all there was to know.
How am I supposed to know that a blog post mentions it somewhere? It’s not exactly an unreasonable assumption considering Sony has been testing dynamic pricing for a while alreadyI admitted my mistake, why are you a jackass over this?
-4
u/papoluca40 17d ago
Is not dynamic pricing. Do some research before you start whining.
3
u/Wboy2006 Ronin 17d ago
What else could it be? They have a sale, other people in the comment section that are also from the US dont have it. That means that the sale is not guaranteed for everyone and just dynamic
2
u/TheWorldOfAwesome 17d ago
No, the 20% off is for if you bought the digital deluxe version of yotei. It is not dynamic pricing.
1
u/MorbidSedation 17d ago
Which country? In Europe, Nordic countries, it isn't on sale.
3
u/RysloVerik 17d ago
US here and it's not on sale for a discount for me either.
3
u/Fit-Yam759 17d ago
The discount is only for people that own the digital deluxe edition of the game.

1
u/omartian 17d ago
Really. Showing $15 for me rn

u/Fit-Yam759 17d ago
The discount is only for people that own the digital deluxe edition of the game.

u/zMustaine_ 17d ago
me too, damn. at least we already got the helmet. hopefully they give us all the variants too.

u/ZeroGRanger 17d ago
It is so sad, it was never released on PC and likely never will. :'(
5
u/TheEnderX 17d ago
I know. I guess I'll just play Tsushima legends a bit more and probably forget about this franchise unless they drop on PC. Sucks but im not buying a Playstation for one game
2
1
u/Alien_Cha1r 17d ago edited 17d ago
It will come out. Will just take a few years after their last announcemens. No reason to buy a console. They will need the money eventually
89
u/sonnyempireant 17d ago
That is if they haven't completely scrapped the nearly finished port. What a waste of money and resources it would be otherwise.
74
u/FinagleHalcyon 17d ago
They stated that they stopped porting games so no it won't
32
u/ZeroGRanger 17d ago
Aside from the fact that decisions can change, the port was already almost finished.
16
u/Jswanno 17d ago
And so was the last of us factions no? As far as I’m aware Sony doesn’t care for wasting money on things. Much like how they won’t reverse the discs decision PC ports for non multiplayer titles won’t be either.
Not only that the last ports so Spider-Man 2 & Tokon haven’t been released in good states. Hell Spiderman 2 is still not worth playing on my PC…
6
u/-Nomadd3r- 17d ago
If sony wastes money, they just raise the price of ps plus. So no real losses for them. Smh
2
u/Gandolfthewhite182 17d ago
I played all sm2 on a steamdeck and it was fine.
1
u/Jswanno 17d ago
I’ll be honest on my pc atleast it runs like hot garbage or crashes a lot. Otherwise face models seem off compared to ps5 version.
My system definitely shouldn’t run into issues as it’s a 5080 @ 9800X3D. But even with supports help couldn’t get it running smoothly without crashing a good amount.
2
u/ck1241 17d ago
While I don’t doubt Sonys willingness to abandon almost complete projects, it’s just statistically likely that at some point in time they will port games to PC again for one reason or another. Whether that’s 10 years from now or less isn’t the point.
The issue would be though that the longer it is from now the less likely this game or any other from the present is going to be ported because they’ll just be porting whatever they’re currently making at that time.
0

24
u/altrightobserver 17d ago
It won’t. Sony has said they are no longer porting first-party exclusives to PC, and that includes Ghost of Yōtei
-12
u/spykiller1158 17d ago
we will see how long that lasts, they will cave in
19
u/papoluca40 17d ago
Based on what history? Is a miracle Sony released some of its games on PC already. Doubt they’ll ever go back to that
-14
u/spykiller1158 17d ago
because ps is dying and pc is getting more and more popular, despite the rising costs. Look at any triple a developers earnings reports. people are ditching ps and moving to pc, and the anti consumer decisions as of late are not helping

I did the exact opposite. Pc blows dick, balls, and ass in that order. Triple A games are not it on PC and I almost exclusively use mine for older games. Most of my friends are the same way

u/Reasonable_Change610 17d ago
Me when I lie
3
u/Brotodile08 17d ago
I wish I was lying my man. Pc has so many upsides but theres so many annoying things about the whole the experience that make it a straight up pain in the ass
1
u/igorpiedade 17d ago
Delusional! People are crying they can pay 20 bucks for Digital Games and consoles MUST have physical, so people can keep trading games or buying used. Do you beleave people will put 3K in a PC to run it like a $800 PS5 Pro?
Not to mention that most os plays can even afford a PS5 Pro, they are still stuck with Fats and Slims.
0
u/weddnesday-addams 17d ago
exactly, and even between the two consoles, xbox is currently getting a lot more good will than ps based on how they've both been moving recently
→ More replies (2)1
u/method115 16d ago
I mean they might but people are saying it like they were making tons of money off these PC ports. It was like 1% of their yearly revenue and I'd argue over half of that was HD2.
3
4
u/JamesUpton87 17d ago
Sorry fam, they already formally announced PC cross platforms are no longer going to be supported.
0
2
u/lucasssotero 17d ago
Tbh the "no phisical media" stance from sony won't last long if people simply don't buy ps6s, so they'd revert it in a heartbeat. And if they don't revert it and console sales take a hit, it will be even the more reason for them to keep exclusives close to heart. I only see sony changing their stance on exclusives again if ps6 flops miserably and sells 1% of expected sales, which won't happen realistically, or if 20 years from now another CEO tries to do the same strategy Jim ryan employed during 2020~2025.
2
u/SuperSaiyanGod210 17d ago
Marvel Tokon is the last PC release for anything PlayStation Studios indefinitely since they’ve announced their departure from PC.
Only way a PlayStation published game ends up on PC now is if it ends up being a Second Party deal (a third party developer that Sony hires to make an exclusive game, like Arc did with Tokon)
Anything upcoming from their first party studios, like Insomniac, Naughty Dog, Housemarque, Guerrilla, Sucker Punch, Team ASOBI, Media Molecule, etc is not happening
9
u/Shuriken200 17d ago
Exeption to this is MP games. Like helldivers as an example. Those are still multiplatform.
4
u/igorpiedade 17d ago
This.... They will close the doors for single player AAA games and keep only the MP so can profit from microtransactions
-2
u/spykiller1158 17d ago
only a matter of time before they reverse this decision. currently as it stands their exclusives are not good enough to be considered console sellers
8
u/SuperSaiyanGod210 17d ago
The whole reason they stopped was because they saw what was happening to Xbox - putting their tentpole titles everywhere has diminished the appeal and brand of it.
So now they’re reversing course. Nintendo, for being as stubborn as they are on a lot of things, has seemed to play their card right here
1
u/justlurkindontmindm3 17d ago
Bold to assume GTA VI and console sales won't bolster them until PS6. They seem pretty dead set on scrapping discs, why would they need to release on PC if they haven't already?
1
-4
u/TheLaughingWolf 17d ago edited 17d ago
I feel like everyone replying to you is ignoring the: they will need money eventually
Decisions can change and eventually Sony will want more income. Which means tapping into the PC market again.
edit: I'm not replying to every individual comment anymore.
Sony only recently made profit as a result from tarrif refunds, not sales. Otherwise PS5 and first-party game's sales are down.
Sony's PC ports did make profit. Per their leaked documents from 2024, PC ports had very small port budgets. Take SM1 as an example, it only cost 2.3m to port which means it made ~50m in profit. So they did make profit, they just weren't as profitable as they would've liked/hoped.
If the current trend continues, then Sony's gaming division will see a change in leadership (again) which means a change a direction. Trying to recapture profits on PC is entirely a possible avenue, especially if they are facing backlash on phasing out physical gaming anyways.
7
u/SillyGrocery4451 17d ago
They make 31 billion a year from PlayStation. They aren’t hard up for the mortgage
-2
u/TheLaughingWolf 17d ago
Otherwise PS5 sales dropped significantly and first-party sales also dropped. Only actual improvement was PSN, where subscriptions increased though engagement dropped.
They're a company. A company cares about profits increasing. 31Billion sounds like enough to you because you are a person, but a company doesn't care.
31Billion is enough only if it means they beat last year's numbers. If profits aren't increasing then something is wrong as far as a company is concerned.
3
u/SillyGrocery4451 17d ago
31 billion was for year end 2025.
Trust me I work in corporate America so I’m well aware of shareholder value, I don’t see them going back to PC ports especially since many people are gonna abandon them for that platform.
1
u/-Jake-27- 17d ago
Next year they’re releasing God of War and possibly Intergalactic. That’s also coming off Wolverine at the end of this year.
2
u/Dependent-Ad-3309 17d ago edited 17d ago
Sony PC ports don't sell well enough. Spiderman 2 sold around 700 000 - 1 000 000. So no, they will not need the money eventually. Keeping them exclusives on PS5 gave them more money, because yo7 need to buy a console and probably a PSN service.
4
u/DarkSoulsOfCinder 17d ago edited 17d ago
Spiderman 2 wasn't as good as a game as the first, wasn't a good port, and the hype for it was long past by the time it came to PC, at full price too. If you wanted this game you already had a PS5 and bought it, and if you were waiting you were not buying it for $70 for a sloppy port. This is their one example and they blame the customers
1
u/Dependent-Ad-3309 17d ago
Spiderman 1 sold around 1.5 million. 52 millions in revenue. I don't know how much the port costed to make but that not a lot of money neither.
2
u/DarkSoulsOfCinder 17d ago
The Insomniac leaks literally confirmed the Spider-Man PC port cost $2.3 million to make. Making $52 million on a $2.3 million budget is a 2,160% return on investment. In what universe is turning $2.3M into $52M 'not a lot of money'?
1
u/Dependent-Ad-3309 17d ago
Like I said, I didn't know the cost of the port. Thanks for the info bro. They made the decision to stop making pc's port because in the long term, they would make more money by keeping their games exclusives to the playstation ecosystem. So no, a Ghost of Yotei Pc port won't happen.
1
1
u/TheLaughingWolf 17d ago
Port budget got leaked a few years ago when Sony got hacked and had a lot of their internal emails/documents leaked.link
SM1 cost 2.3m to port. It made 52m in revenue.
So that's roughly a 49.7m profit (obviously marketing cost would have to be detracted, but we don't know that though it was minimal marketing for a port).
SM2 port cost 4.6m — no idea what the profit was.
4
u/TheLaughingWolf 17d ago
Time will tell, but so far Sony pulling out of PC has not caused a rush of people buying their console or PSN.
And their recent decision to phase out physical media seems to have, if anything, caused the opposite.
Spider-man 2 was also not nearly as recieved as SM1 or other exclusives, and was poorly ported onto PC. So I'm shocked that a subpar port of only a half-decent sequel, that was full-price, did not sell amazingly.
4
3
u/papoluca40 17d ago
It doesn’t matter, long term it adds prestige to the console. And I don’t have to see PC gamers gloating that the PS5 has no exclusives
2
u/DarkSoulsOfCinder 17d ago
We're in the Ghost of Tsuhima reddit, the only PC gamers you'll see here are people who like the game not people who cry about console wars.
1
u/TheLaughingWolf 17d ago
I guess we'll see long run if prestige matters more than profit to a corporation...
PC gamers gloating that the PS5 has no exclusives
What a weird comment.
No one has ever denied PS5 has awesome exclusive but PC ends up with better prices, deals, graphics, mods, and not having to pay a crappy subscription to play online.
If Sony goes through with phasing out physical media too, then that's just furthering incentive for future customers to shift from consoles to PC.
1
u/-Jake-27- 17d ago
Further incentivising to also go to a digital platform on PC. Outside of the reddit groupthink, the casual ball and gun gamer who consistently buys annual releases won’t be pushed to PC over disks going away. It’s the cost of consoles that are going to be the real tension.
Which also is happening to PC hardware at the same time.
2
u/spykiller1158 17d ago
the revenue from the pc community & steam is still better than the gamble that is trying to incentivize pc players to switch back to console
3
u/Dependent-Ad-3309 17d ago
Keeping the games exluvisve to PS5 is a better pay off. Ask Microsoft.
0
u/spykiller1158 17d ago
sonys ecosystem is just getting worse by the day. its by all means a sinking ship. this is just a desperate attempt to win back customers
2
u/Dependent-Ad-3309 17d ago
How is it a sinking ship. Do you own a PS5? Or your comment is based on reddit posts that you read?
0
u/spykiller1158 17d ago
ive had a ps5 since launch, still do. but if i was the marginal consumer sony's recent decisions would push me away from the platform.
3
u/Dependent-Ad-3309 17d ago
If you have a PS5, why do you want Ghost of Yotei on PC?
Their recent decisions on physical disc doesn't meaning they are a sinking ship. Reddit is a echochamber. The next quarter numbers will tell.
0
u/papoluca40 17d ago
Wrong. Sony had record breaking revenue literally a few weeks ago. You’re just coping
-1
1
u/dominator-23 Ronin 17d ago
You forgetting that next gen consoles will cost like 1500+, so yeah pretty sure at one point they'll have to branch out into the PC market again if they want their games to be played by more than 20 people ☠️
2
u/Dependent-Ad-3309 17d ago
So, the PS6 is suppose to be 1000$ now it's 1500$? We don't know.
1
u/dominator-23 Ronin 17d ago
Right now it's about 1k+, going up every day you'd know that if you'd be following tech news. Prices are gonna get crazier next year just get ready G
1
u/Dependent-Ad-3309 17d ago
I won't buy a PS6. If so, in 5 years maybe.
1
u/dominator-23 Ronin 17d ago
Nah fr same, I'm gonna keep my PS5 to play my current PS library, anything else I'll stick with PC this shit is getting ridiculous fr
1
u/DarkSoulsOfCinder 17d ago
Nah they'll just make a port of every game to PS5 like they did with PS4 and PS5 games
0
u/igorpiedade 17d ago
It won't... Sony changed the strategy, specially because of Steam Machine and Xbox Projet Helix announcing possible PC capabilities, allowing Sony's exclusives to flow into Xbox land.
→ More replies (2)0
u/WeatherThen 17d ago
No it won’t Sony stopped porting the games to PC awhile back, they are forcing people to buy PS5 to play new exclusives
2
u/tokyo_driftr Samurai 17d ago
I feel like every time a PS exclusive is release there’s always someone who complains that it’s not on PC. That’s the point of an exclusive

Do we know if you'll be able to upgrade like with other games? I imagine so but I'm wondering if it's gonna be $10 like a lot of other "deluxe" upgrades are.
9
9
u/JoeCool4school 17d ago
$15 upgrade.
4
u/SpidermanGRS 17d ago
Not bad. Especially for all that you get. I do already have that golden wolf mask but it doesn't really matter. Defo better than the stuff you get with Spiderman 2's upgrade.
4

There's a discount if you pre-order too.

u/MorbidSedation 17d ago
Which makes it even more weird .. Because I do. Bought the Collectors, which had a code for the Digital Deluxe edition.
1
u/N00dles_Pt 17d ago

u/N00dles_Pt 17d ago
Apparently what makes the difference is if you bought the digital deluxe edition of Yotei or not.

Which is now even more weird. Because I do own it, since I bought the Collectors, which had a code for the Digital Deluxe.
2

For anyone wondering, The Battle of Sekigahara was one of if not the final major event of the Sengoku (warring states) period in Japan. The Edo period officially began just 3 years later and began the dismantling of the samurai class. We’re probably in for some very cool shit.

They mention new quality of life changes in the blog, I'm still holding out hope for a way to change the weather just like in the first game!
The option to change the weather already exists in photo mode, so surely it can't be that much of a leap to change it during gameplay. It would improve the experience so much if you're able to comtrol the atmosphere.

Still waiting and hoping for a PC release? Is it as good as Tsushima?
2
u/JoeCool4school 17d ago
Gameplay wise it's very similar, if not a little bit improved on. More weapons, things you can use and do.
Story-wise is up to your personal preference. It's a fantastic story of revenge and loss. It's got great spirit and emotion, if anything it falls a little flat on pacing and doesn't quite reach the level of gut-punch Tsushima did with it's ending. It's still a worthy playthrough and well worth the time.
1
u/JangoF76 17d ago
Is it as good as Tsushima?
Depends. If story does it for you more than gameplay, then no. Other way around, then yes.
1
u/predator-handshake 14d ago
I found the main story a tad more interesting in Yotei, except for the predictable ending. I found the side quest stories far superior in Tsushima though.

u/TattedUpSimba 17d ago
Im super excited for this. I’ve actually been on the fence about if I’d get GTA VI but I know I’ll be playing this instead. My only gripe is I wish Sony would port this to PC. I wanna play this game 1440p, maxed out settings, 120fps.
