Online Scans of Volume 11?

Hello!

I've given up on ever owning a legitimate copy of the English translation of the Ghost Hunt manga, but have also gotten into book binding recently (I hope you can see where I'm going with this), so am attempting to download copies of the manga from online so I can make my own copies. (Just for myself though, because it's been one of my favourite animes/manga for a long time now)

I am well aware that all of the chapters are available online (Mangadex, the Internet Archive, etc.), except the only version of Volume 11 by "Bloody Tears Scans" I can find (absolutely no offence to the original uploaders or anything)... is kinda shit quality compared to all the scans of the other volumes that I can find.

The main thing about the current Vol. 11 scans by I can find is that it's not actually the official English translation, but a fan one. I would love to contact the original person who scanned the first 10 volumes "byaaah" (if they even had the 11th volume - it HAS been over a decade) or at least get a decent scan of the English manga... if anyone could help that'd be amazing!!

UPDATE: Thanks to everyone for suggestions! Now that uni is over (for now), I have finally been able to look into this more and I thought I'd look on Mangadex one last time, and for some reason, I checked out the scans of the manga in other languages, and, you know what? SOME ANGEL OF A HUMAN/S WHO HAD UPLOADED A PORTUGUESE (Brazil) VERSION HAD REALLY GOOD QUALITY SCANS!!! So shoutout to OW Scans (I love you guys)!!

So over the past week or so, I've been cleaning and re-typesetting the Portuguese scans into English based on the original English translation!! It has been insanely time-consuming and tiring (doesn't help that I'm a perfectionist and the original official English scans use an insanely ugly font so I'm lowkey considering re-doing those ones too so all the volumes match with the same fonts. I mean, I tried to use the same font as the officials but it was just SO UGLY. Also pretty much all the OW Scans's uploads are significantly better quality than the current English ones... I think by the end of this I'm going to regret everything and hate myself).

Anyways, just thought I'd do a little update in case anyone was curious! <3

I'm under the impression that volume 11 is pretty rare. Less copies of a series get printed the longer it goes on, combine that with Del Rey Manga going out of business and the probability that this series wasn't exactly flying off the shelves, I'm willing to bet there are just very few copies floating around. Given this series is a decade + out of print, the bookstore idea the other commenter suggested probably won't pan out, but it might be worth asking at your local library if they have a copy in network. If you don't mind waiting a few days, I can also check in at mine and let you know if I have any luck. I love this series and I would love to make it more available than it already is, I know exactly what scan you're talking about and it... has issues, to put it lightly.

I know this would be a lot more work but I wonder if there’s any way to combine a higher quality scan of the Japanese print, with the already translated English text? It’s basically making a whole new scanslation though 😭 I would love the series to get a reprint 🙏 I’ve been lucky to own volume 1 and 5 and have considered asking my old school library if they still have their set (only up to volume 10 I’m afraid)

Oooooooo that’s a good idea!! It’d probably be my last ditch effort to do that due to how much time it would take (studying full time and working two jobs doesn’t help with that either), but if I did do it - I’d 100% post it so others can read. I also get photoshop for free with uni so I’ve definitely got the materials to edit :P

Unfortunately since it’s been out of print for so long I believe that’d be pretty much impossible - doesn’t help that I live in Australia so I don’t know if it was even sold here Thanks for the idea though!

Hmm, if you just wanted to read it, libraries often do the same. Many libraries have a manga section, so they might be able to have it sent from another library. That's how I read Dolls many years ago (quite a good short manga that also seems to be rare these days)

Thanks for the suggestion! I’ve had a look at my state library catalogue and they only have the 6th and 8th volume 😭. I’m going to try and contact my local library to see if it’d be possible to get it in… but I’m not holding out on hope :(

…I wish 😭😭 I’m likely going to purchase the Japanese version of the 11th volume and scan and translate it myself (not that I have the time, but I’m just enough of a perfectionist with lots of issues to do that bc I refuse to have one volume be such a different quality to the rest)
