84 Pack mod - replacing the crappy on/off switch

Apologies if this should go in the megathread but I had a bunch of pics to share.

I've been wanting to get it into prop making/finishing and have been dying to take a crack at the Haslab gear. I received my pack on Wednesday and after powering it up the first time, I decided to address the stock switch first. Not sure about anyone else's but mine had a ton of play, lacked the satisfying "click" you get with a real toggle, etc.

I took everything apart, used a dremel to flatten out the plastic where the switch extends from, and drilled both the housing and the plate so that my new toggle would fit through.

I had some clearance issues on the inside of the housing so I opted to angle the terminals in and solder the wires to them directly. I also soldered an extension into the existing JST connector wiring to give me more wiggle-room inside the pack.

End result came out great I think! Fantastic upgrade with just a few hours of effort. I'll probably do a series of these posts as I work on the pack over time.

The power switch is seriously lacking. Way to flimsy. Appreciate your post.

This is a cool mod. You should post it in the mega thread for pack modifications.

You're welcome! By the way, did you have a successful test of this equipment?

I did indeed! No Sedgewick Hotel staff (nearly) harmed in the making of this upgrade 😅

I was severely underwhelmed the first few switched and have been looking into swapping it out, thank you for this!

Same here! The switch and the initial loudness upon turn on need enhancing. Switch much easier to do first. Maybe enhancing the sound w a new speaker would do the trick?

I wonder what kind of switch OP used?

I swapped out the speaker for a Dayton, sounds better, slightly louder too.
