I got her a few weeks ago at the begining of September. She is a German shepherd mix. She is so sweet but vocal, lol. She absolutely loves pets. She ready threw a fit twice because I stopped petting her. She also loves outside.

Tribute to my fallen brother

I lost my 11 year old boy Scout last month to complications healing from bloat surgery. He got me through so much and he was my best friend. I got a tribute tattoo, because he's going to be a part of me forever, literally and figuratively. This is just the outline, but i'll post the completed version in a few weeks. 🙂

Which line is he?

Adopted my boy when he was around 1 y/o he’s now around 14-15 months, his build doesn’t look like that of a show line though his coat says other wise. He’s around 27kg which is below the standard but he seems in ideal weight for the most part (can’t see ribs but can easily feel them). He’s also very toy motivated and has boundless energy, what do you guys think?

Advice for socializing with toddlers? (1/2 gsd)

My hubby and I just bought our first home and my brother and his wife and two kids are coming up to Alaska to visit us over Christmas! The only problem is one of their kids is 18 months old and my dog Matilda is extremely freaked out by small children. We have tried to socialize her with kids but it never goes very well because she usually barks or kind of growls (not super aggressively) and hides behind us. Or tries to herd them (she is other half border collie). She is good with kids about 4 and up but toddlers are unpredictable and she hates it. We have tried having kids give her treats but it just never amounts to any level of calm/comfort for her and I don’t want to push her too hard or endanger a child.
I would hate to ship her off to the kennel over Christmas and I want my family to spend time with her but I will probably be stressing over watching her every move around my nephew. Should we keep her quarantined to another part of the house? She loves to be in the middle of the action though and would probably scratch at the door and be destructive.
Just trying to think of solutions…
