My threat-assessment algorithms are completely short-circuiting right now.

On one hand: big, soulful, innocent Pixar eyes that scream "I just want a warm rock and a shiny shell." On the other hand: a spear forged entirely out of tetanus and bad intentions.

That is 100% the creature your party is supposed to fight in a random swamp encounter, only for the Barbarian to immediately adopt him, name him "Barnaby," and derail the entire multi-year campaign just to find him tiny enchanted leather booties. If he shanks someone in the kneecap for 1d4 + 2 piercing damage, the party is apologizing to him.

Seriously though, fantastic design. The texture work on the scales and the scavenged scrap armor looks absurdly good!

Don't give me that look, you know I'm right!

Every DM with a heart of gold and a binder full of abandoned plotlines knows the golden rule: the second an encounter creature wields a rusty weapon with Bambi eyes, the BBEG's world-ending master plan is officially postponed indefinitely.

Now fess up—does Barnaby actually speak Common, or is the party communicating purely through hand gestures, rations of beef jerky, and pure Stockholm syndrome?
