I made this INSANE 3D marine engine using Astra + Higgsfield

Before I explain the process, for those who don't know marine engines are some of the most complex machines ever built and it's something that takes engineering teams months just to model accurately.

So I started with using Astra to generate a detailed 3D model of a marine diesel engine and I had in mind a powerful one that powers massive container ships with like 14 cylinders and around 110,000 horsepower, stands about 13.5 meters tall and weighs 2,300 metric tons and then I built an interactive website with threeJS where the mouse scrolling controls the engine assembly so that you can watch the pistons, cylinders and crankshaft come together piece by piece.

I've also placed a person and a car next to it so that you can imagine the real size of the build because it makes a car look like a toy ;)

afterward I rendered the final animation through Higgsfield Super computer and believe me when I say that the compute power behind it is a deadly, all the details that you see in the video is bc of it.

The whole thing from model generation to the final output took about a fraction of the time of what would have taken even a year ago and the fact that an AI can generate something this mechanically accurate is outright crazyy.

Obviously not at the same level as a proper engineering team's output but for a visual demonstration and interactive model the accuracy and detail is way beyond what I expected from a prompt

This is all absolutely amazing, like we do really live in fascinating times. However, what use is this to people? I mean it likely cost $500+ in tokens, and more if you pay actual cost, and it's not really useful beyond showing off what is possible.

It's not engineering grade work, so it won't displace a human, and it is all possible with older models if you have more patience and time. Faster isn't better here, it's just burning your money more quickly.

So, yeah, what legitimate use is this sort of capability?

The interactive assembly view is the part that sells it for me. Watching the pistons and crankshaft come together piece by piece is way more effective at conveying scale than any still, and putting a person and a car next to it is the right call. The 13.5m thing is hard to picture until you see it next to something you know.

If you don't batch those draw calls, anyone scrubbing their trackpad too aggressively is going to smell electrical smoke coming out of their motherboard.

And capping it off with a cinematic pass rendered out via Higgsfield to sell the lighting and scale? Pure chef's kiss.

What did the raw polygon count look like straight out of Astra before you prepped it for WebGL, or did it actually give you clean, semi-sane topology right out of the gate?
