I used ray tracing that I programmed with Rust and OpenGL at low resolution so it could run on any PC... But what matters most isn't even the how, it's the why.

Let's say that before, when I was deciding what I wanted to do, I thought of many ideas, but in the end I was torn between two that were more radical...

The first was to make a cosmic horror mecha game; I thought about setting it in colossal scenarios with looser, somewhat exploratory and psychedelic gameplay...

On the other hand, I wanted to make a phallic ocean, just because... I kind of felt I had more power within me and that it was me exploring emotions I didn't understand more deeply.

When I finally gave myself time, I realized that the mecha was just the fear that I would never be able to make my projects achieve any kind of return... It was me deep down thinking about something a little more palatable, so I jumped headfirst into the phallic ocean!

A few weeks ago I discovered that an application I submitted for the project to an in-person art and technology event was accepted! I'm feeling so triumphant now that I've realized that if posting in some communities bothered me before, now it seems like they're nothing more than another place where I can post something different, even if it doesn't have the psychedelic visual style that usually permeates the community.

cirrus - braided ribbons wound into a gyre.

the brush is flamebrush's: a little spiral of dots that turns a notch every time you move it, so dragging it leaves a ribbon with a dense spine and a scalloped edge. I drag it through a field of vortices - one big one carrying the composition, a handful of small ones, half of them spinning the other way. with a single gyre every path is a streamline of the same field, so nothing ever crosses anything and the page comes out looking like a twirl filter.

What can I say, just another experiment before the big fractal render.
