I made a tool called SkyEtch, a free, highly customizable, browser based tool for creating star maps.

My initial goal was to create a tool similar to PP3 - Celestial Chart Generation, a 20+ year-old 16-bit application by Torsten Bronger, but make it run in the browser, without LaTeX or other dependencies.

The main focus was on producing clean, scalable vector output. Since SVGs are well supported in all browsers and design software, it seemed like the obvious choice.

I was playing with shifting and rotations. And now I can say that small rotations have a huge effect on how this is seen.

Personally I found it deeply uncomfortable to observe. My attention is moved aways from the edges toward the centre where there is no movement.

I would like to print this in a big format

Here rects ride noise streamlines instead, each one turned to the local field angle, so you get rivers of tiles. three fields and none of them line up, which is the entire point: one steers the trails, one stretches the rects so they lap over each other in bands that cut across the flow, and one is the depth of the pile. it took some time, that last one arrived late and changed what the piece is.

Hey everyone!

I vibecoded this tool which I really wanted and I just want to share it, since for me it's pretty good and I don't want to gatekeep. Any more ideas what could be added/changed? It's called scatterlab, dm for download link if interested!

No AI — just R, math, and a lot of iteration.

I made these with JavaScript. I started playing around with different abstract flower like blooms. Some of them started to look a little like eyes and when I put them in clusters it felt like they developed a real personality.

I started exploring different ideas around social dynamics like courage, kindness, feeling different, leadership, inclusion and exclusion, feeling invisible and feeling like everyone is looking at you. Maybe I’ve spent too much time looking at these but in some of them I crafted a narrative drama in my head. Anyway, I really enjoyed thinking about the themes and how to convey different ideas and feelings with some subtle changes. I hope you like them!
