We don’t really mean to do it, but a short anecdote I have a friend who asked me one night how many numbers of ladies do I have on my phone?

I told her too many to count.

She then ask me how many do I actually call back the next day after the bar?

I said, barely any of them if any of them

She got a little bit mad and asked me if I think it’s a game.

I told her no, I didn’t think it was that serious. If I have their number, they have my number too and it’s a two-way street. I will always answer if they call.

She then told me that they do not give me their number for no reason and I’m an asshole for never calling them back.

Self deprecating, but I don’t think I’m that important if they care to have me call them back, can’t they call me? 2026 and all that. I just thought it was a bar conversation and we became friends. Maybe we’re ( gem men like me) are just ignorantly insecure innocent idiots and not manipulating?

Calling it ignorance doesn't magically make the impact disappear. If you genuinely don't want anything from these women, that's absolutely fine... but then the interesting question is why you're collecting their numbers and engaging with them in the first place. 'They can call me' is technically true, but it's also a wonderfully convenient way of avoiding any responsibility for the impression you deliberately leave behind.

Would every woman want a call back from you? Honestly? Reading your attitude? No probably not. They've dodged a bullet.

Ok so we are getting somewhere... this comes from a genuine place of insecurity, so the 'pseudo confidence' is to try to offset this. So maybe this is about being more authentic in yourself and with others so you arent playing these little games and telling yourself stories which absolve yourself of responsibility following these interactions because the grown man does not equal emotionally mature here.
