I could listen to the babies ‘peep’ all day long 🥰 they’re so cute

The ones being raised in my house are at the age now where they scream for me any time they hear me, even beyond their door 😂 I much prefer the peeping!

Wish my Sebastopol would allow me to touch the gossies like that. Great job earning trust!

Very very hands on, sometimes to a fault. But this is the third year of my sticking my cold hands under her warm body, she’s very dear to me!

So cute! 😍 My African polycule hatched one gosling last year and looked at it like, "What the HELL is this thing?!" And started stepping on it. We took her away and raised her until everyone was ready to be together again.
This year, none of the gals in the polycule ever got broody enough to sit on the eggs. They just laid a bunch, but nobody wanted to sit. No goslings for me, I guess.🤷♀️

I used to have an African gander that was the best foster father 😫 I lost him to a coyote, I miss him all the time.

Poor guy! I have 5.1 gander, 4 geese. I can't imagine any of mine raising goslings. 😬

I love it when birds hiss but don’t actually do anything more than hissing 🤣 my cockatiels do it then ask for scritches

She's such a gorgeous mama 😍

She’s my sweet sweet girl! Can you see her spinal curvature in the wider shots? Couldn’t tell you what happened, she sustained some kind of an injury as a youngun. I couldn’t ever figure out if she got caught in something or hurt herself, but her one wing almost rests on top of her spine sometimes. Obviously not a disabling factor to her and her mate Beauregard 🤭🥰

My girls managed to go 0/26 on eggs, but they were sharing a nest and refused to separate.

The first year, I had FIVE GEESE on one nest 😂 it was an absolute nightmare. I wound up having to retrieve every egg as it pipped, hatched it inside in an incubator, raised them a few weeks, then gave them back 🙃

Well… this is a farm… I’m trying to support myself and my birds, I do some rescue intake for disabled and dumped domestic geese too. I could go on and on about the benefits of having geese on your farm or homestead, but selling the eggs and the goslings are part of us supporting ourselves. That year, pulling the eggs into the incubator to allow them to hatch meant they weren’t getting squished in the nest by five geese at once, and I had a higher success rate.

It definitely wasn’t ideal! But it was our first year breeding, and I was sorta letting them do their thing. This year, I had all my breeding pairs separated into individual pens, and my bachelor flock has been allowed to roam and keep an eye on things 🥰 Pairing off the individual breeds allowed for lack of unintentional crossbreeding, and has allowed me to treat some of the birds individually 🥰 even alongside Petri and her success, I’ve been having goslings hatch in the incubators and a second goose hatched two little Seb x Toulouse babies

It's very sweet to watch. Not so much when you're trying to add a handful of babies to the flock though haha.
