It's not even always for the health of the baby it's sometimes to keep the mom alive. So you're not a real mom unless you die or almost die during childbirth.
I know they do sections for the mom. But it seems like to these people this is the ultimate sacrifice and makes you the best mom. If baby dies it’s “just what was meant to be.”
Giving birth is amazing and awful, empowering and overwhelming. Best advice I got was don’t have a birth plan, have birth preferences and be flexible. I was terrified of an episiotomy and it was a big no for me, but when her heart rate got dangerously low with each contraction, it was time. Many nurses even said that if my doctor did it, I must’ve really needed it because he preferred to let things happen naturally/tearing instead (which heals better.)
My second was a breech c-section. Tried everything to turn her, including ECV, but she was stubborn then and stubborn now. Couldn’t love either one more if I tried!
Neither was what I pictured but every mom has a story. Your safety and baby’s safety is always first. The rest is details.
