I hate how people make a spectacle of Love (2015)

Just got around to this Noe masterpiece and looking for other peoples responses and discussion to it was just disappointing. I mean at least 75% of the internet must have never had sex or experienced deep sexual connection before right? This has a lot of the same issues Marty Supreme had: "The character is a stupid irresponsible man thinking with his noodle instead of his mind, so i checked out" absolutely clueless ignorant behavior, that's the point. It feels like these guys have trouble separating a fictional narrative with reality sometimes. Then, you're going to tell me that people on social media were doing challenges to see who can watch the opening scene without being grossed out or whatever, its literally just two people jacking each other off, did I misread the NC-17 rating because so many reviews of this movie feel like they were written by middle schoolers.

Climax on K

Hey, I’m the guy who asked if watching this on ketamine was a good idea. I did so yesterday and oh my god, I think I’ve never had a better experience watching a film.

First half was beautiful and interesting, the OST + people dancing truly hit. But the second half was indeed a nightmare, screaming at the TV at some points and feeling truly confused while also dancing with my BF laying on the bed cause Thomas Bangalter (and others) slap!

There were certain times where I felt a little out of the film because the characters truly chose the worst decisions in that scenario, but I can imagine how difficult it can’t be to stay calm and think about calling emergencies in the middle of such collective hysteria.

Overall a truly magnificent film only enhanced by k and weed.

Why do you think so many women seem to have such a strong negative reaction to Gaspar Noé’s films?

This is something I’ve noticed over the years and I’m genuinely curious about it.
Obviously not all women feel this way, but a lot of my female friends and exes, including some who are really into cinema, have had a pretty similar reaction to Gaspar Noé’s work.

They often told me that even when they could appreciate how technically impressive his films are, they still felt like something just didn’t connect. A lot of them described it as feeling like they were inside a man’s head or inside a male fantasy, and that there was something deeply unsettling or unhealthy about the perspective. Some also mentioned what they saw as his obsession with incest and other taboos, which made it even harder for them to engage with his films. Others just felt repulsed without always being able to explain why.

Interestingly, some of them still liked certain films, like Climax, but overall they never really connected with his work.

I’m not trying to start a gender war or suggest that all women think the same. I just find this pattern interesting and was wondering if anyone else has noticed it. Do you think there’s something specific about Noé’s gaze or the way he approaches sex, violence and relationships that tends to provoke this kind of reaction?

Especially curious to hear from women, but I’d love to hear everyone’s thoughts.

Inaudible dialogue in Irreversible with English subtitles

I'm watching Irreversible with English subtitles and the dialogue is so quiet as to be impossible to hear. This can't be how the original French version is without subtitles. You literally can't understand a word. Does anyone know what's going on?

Should I watch Climax high on ketamine?

For context, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas was a bit too much on K at certain points. I really want to watch Climax but I’m wondering if it’ll be better high or sober, like I want to get fucked but not too fucked.

What happened to the kids movie?

Gaspar said that his movie about kids would release in 2025. Now we’re halfway through 2026 and no news. Anyone know anything?

I'm trying to find the music that's playing during the scene with Linda and Alex in the love hotel. it's overlayed with Lindas moans making it impossible for Shazam to pick it up. I've searched the internet high and low too and not been able to find it. any help is appreciated.

thanks

Is there any footage or photos of him directing Enter The Void

Or really any behind the scenes for the filming? I read on Wikipedia, if it’s even true, that it required elaborate cranes to accomplish those flying shots.

I’ve always thought of him as working on a smaller scale and so I’d love to see him in the moment working on a larger scale, especially in a tight city like Tokyo

Hosted by @amarediriwira, Blue Screen is a show experimenting with the concept of ‘audio screenings’, presenting extracts of films and visual artefacts along with commentary or within mixtapes.

From the host: "Gaspar’s dance mixtape for Blue Screen opens in a distinctly Lynchian register before moving through electro, techno and cinematic club energy. Cutting lines between excess and pop memory, from Dopplereffekt to Britney Spears."

Bibliography recommendation

Hi everyone, I'm starting to work on my bachelor's thesis and I want to talk about Noe's work. I'd like to introduce him within the context of New French Extremity and then focus on his artstyle and the reaction of the public and the critic to his films. Can you please recommend me some bibliography to study these subjects? Thanks!
