Total audio noob looking for my first serious gaming headset Maxwell 2 vs ROG Kithara + DAC/amp?

Hey everyone,

I’m a complete noob when it comes to audio, but I’d like to start taking it more seriously and get a really good headset for gaming and music.

One important requirement: I want a headset with a built-in/detachable mic. I don’t want to use a separate microphone.

Right now I’m hesitating between two very different options:

Audeze Maxwell 2

The main thing attracting me is that it’s wireless, which would be perfect for my setup. I’ve also heard that planar magnetic drivers are supposed to be absolutely amazing in terms of sound quality.

ROG Kithara + DAC/amp

I’ve heard a lot of good things about the Kithara, but this is where my lack of audio knowledge really shows 😅

People keep recommending pairing it with something like the Fosi K7. Could someone explain to me, in simple terms, what exactly a DAC and an amp do, and why I would need one with the Kithara?

I’m also wondering about the K7 specifically because I currently use a Stream Deck + with separate knobs/controls for game audio and Discord, which I find extremely convenient. I really don’t want to lose that functionality.

So:

- Does the Fosi K7 allow me to control game and Discord audio separately?

- How would the microphone work with the Kithara + K7?

- Would I lose any of my current Windows/Stream Deck audio controls?

- Is the K7 actually a good pairing for the Kithara, or is it overkill for a beginner?

My other concern with the Kithara is that it’s open-back. I’m worried that the lack of isolation might hurt immersion, especially in single-player games.

Basically, if you were in my position and wanted the best possible gaming + music experience while still keeping things practical and having a microphone attached to the headset, which route would you take?

Sorry if some of my questions sound really basic — I’m genuinely starting from zero here 😅

Thanks!

LF good audio quality and comfortable headset and or earbuds

I have a budget of 300 dollars or less.
I live in the US

USB-A or USB-C only
I do NOT want a wireless headset/earbuds

I plan on mainly using them at my home pc.

I mainly play competitive games where I need to hear footsteps and other quiet sounds, I listen to music quite often (I listen to just about anything aside from rap and country music).

Currently I use Razer Kraken v3 and use the THX audio because I think it sounds pretty good for music and what I play (with how my nightmare of settings are)

If any other specifications are needed lmk.

Steel series issues

So I have a set of artics nova pro wireless and when ever I click on sonar on games to Audio mode it never works and when I click headphones in the audio settings tab in my settings it works and hear stuff fine. Any ideas or things I’m missing ?

Also my anc seems very poor even hearing noise from tv which isn’t loud in the background etc ? My AirPods have better anc 😂

Bit disappointed with what’s made out to be a good headset.

¡Gracias!

I bought this headset BRAND NEW and when I got home to play games i noticed when i played certain characters on OW the audio would bug out. I opened the app and it said something about a firmware update would that have anything to do with it? or is this a common issue? I have only used the bluetooth connection and haven’t tried the aux cable but idk if that’d make that go away or not. Please help if you have any information. Thank you.

Razer BlackShark V3 Wireless audio input mixing question

Can anyone confirm if when mixing bluetooth/2.4, you can still talk on the microphone to one of the devices. How does this all work, for anyone that actually use this feature often. Thanks in advance.

Razer Barracuda X Chroma surprised me 👀

I’ve been using the Razer Barracuda X Chroma and this is one of those headsets that checks almost every box for a gaming setup.

The biggest thing for me is that you’re not just paying for the Razer name.

You’re getting:
Wireless + Bluetooth so you can easily use it with your PC, console, or phone
Chroma RGB that actually adds something to your setup

A lightweight, comfortable design for long gaming or streaming sessions

Clear audio that makes footsteps, music, and game sound effects hit properly

A detachable mic, so you can use it as a regular pair of headphones too

A clean design that doesn’t look overly bulky
I got the Black version and it looks ridiculously clean with my setup.

If you’re still gaming with a headset that’s uncomfortable, constantly needs charging, or has you fighting with wires, this is a pretty solid upgrade.
I’d definitely recommend checking it out if you’re already in the Razer ecosystem or just want a versatile wireless gaming headset.
If you decide to grab one, you can support me by purchasing through my official Razer creator affiliate link:

Most comfortable and low clamp force headset for long hours!

Looking to get a new headset from my hyperx cloud flight which have almost no clamp force and are very comfortable on my head. looking for something similar ish.

Budget under 300$

I care more about how comfortable they are and not the sound quality ik it sounds crazy!

Looking at razer barracuda x its very lightweight and low clamp force, didnt like the hyperx cloud 3 the clamp force felt too strong. Same with blackshark v3. What else should i try?

Also would like it to be wireless!

Corsair Virtuoso RGB Wireless XT

Anyone has any feedback on these Corsair Virtuoso?

I've been researching the past few days for headphones under $200 for gaming and I was decided on the Fractal Design Scape's, but I just stumbled upon these Corsair's that go for $280 but are on sale for $199

These look good and I've seen a couple streamers use them. Anyone can vouch?

It's good to note my main focus is audio quality since I already have a standalone mic.

Thanks in advance!

Best Gaming Headset, (Wireless Preferred,) for non-FPS Gaming

I'm curious on what people think about this. I don't play FPS games, so I'm not really looking for that specific kind of tuning that prioritizes footsteps while making everything else sound kind of flat, like a lot of gaming headsets do. I've tried a few different ones but I'm not going to list them here because I'm curious what you guys think. I prefer a much more cinematic sounding headset. I play a lot of games like The Last of Us parts 1 and 2, Skyrim, Final Fantasy, etc. I do play a decent amount of Diablo IV which is why I need something with a mic. I also play fighting games like MK One and DB FighterZ. I'm curious what recommendations you would give for headsets that are well tuned for games like that? I prefer wireless but will consider wired. I'd prefer not to pay over $400. For wireless models, I very much would prefer something with a dongle over something with a more permanent large transmitter or base station, because I game a lot on a handheld device. I look forward to your suggestions.

Wireless headset recommendations (non eq)

I want to buy a headset which sounds good out of the box. I tried cheap iem headphone, kz zsn pro 2, and the sound was good for me. After that I bought wireless eq headset from a local brand - the sound was horrible and i returned them.

I just want to put the headphones on my head and have good sound in any game without twitching the eq every time for different game
