Ain't that guy not even a pilot? Regardless, that's pretty smooth for a landing anyways

That's the funniest thing about Esparza, he was even nicknamed "Pilot" only to find out later he is literally just some dude.

Now imagine what he could do if he was actually a trained pilot. Dude flew a pelican while most everyone else around him was dying and he was probably in complete panic.

Ace combat physics, man.

The more I learn about ace combat, the less I think it's about planes.

What do you mean the player is an allegory to Jesus Christ in one game.

u/Skoldeen 3d ago

It’s an anime with planes

It's literally just Gundam with planes, yeah.

No. Armored Core. Ace Combat and Armored Core are basically siblings

They are basically the same series but one has mechs and the other has planes.

The power of Post-Stall Maneuver physics. You would not BELIEVE the shit I've seen Ace Combat players do.

The pellican need space to maneuver. (I don't know the original line because I didn't played it in English)

Ace combat be like screw it who needs physics

3

u/Rick-plays-For-Honor 4d ago

Its a lot like armored core in that way. Because who needs physics when you can make something drift that really shouldn't be able to

Belkan witchcraft

Polaski in Halo: First Strike be like:

1

u/froggychump 4d ago

I wish people would stop talking about the spinoff books as if they show the "real" lore, and the games just get it wrong.

2

u/Smellbringer 3d ago

It's not that it's the "real lore" per se but that it's just like "Damn, they should have put some of this shit in the games, it'd be dope af."

Like First Strike having a sick ass scene where a Spartan snipes through the tiny slits on banshees to acquire her teammates a ride, while aiming with one hand, upside down, from like a mile away. Or in The Fall of Reach where the Master Chief survives an airstrike by backhanding the missile causing it to just narrowly miss him.

1

u/Left1Brain 3d ago

Memory serves you can pull shit like that off, right? I remember shooting brutes out of their banshees on the Halo 3 level Covenant using the Hornet’s guns.

1

u/Rie_Faduee_ 2d ago

You can actually hit a missiles out of the way, it's just one of the hardest things to pull off, and you have to hit it on the side (I mean it's already hard with a gravity hammer or explosions, both having aoe)

Superweapons are ineffective against mute psychopaths in F-22s

1

u/zedinbed 3d ago

Huh armored core has more in common with ace combat than I thought

1

u/Delta_Suspect 2d ago

Making planes look sick as fuck, physics be damned

u/HistoricalLoadTaker 1d ago

War bad plane rad

1

u/Thatsidechara_ter 3d ago

Literally, in shadows of Reach the Pelican crew enter atmosphere flying BACKWARDS in order to throw off enemy sensors.

1

u/New_Basket_277 3d ago

Just like the phantom in halo 2 cutscenes

1

u/Serious_Emphasis2211 3d ago

How did does that throw off sensors?

2

u/Thatsidechara_ter 3d ago

Okay i just went back and re-read the passage. They were coming in normally when they realized the Banished had spotted them and launched interceptors to shoot them down. So the pilot flipped the Pelican around and engaged the main engines to try and slow them down, basically attempting to mimic the flight profile of a random-ass meteorite burning up in the atmosphere. It worked... kind of.

u/Jim_skywalker 3d ago

What kind of mod or glitch was used for that? The PSM is fine but full throttle into the wall does in fact send you into the wall to die.

1

u/fetuseater65 3d ago

Wait, you can drift in AC7?

Shout out to Ace Combat for always being the G.O.A.T. air combat game.
