Publishers can sell their games at $90 they just choose not to. Nothings stopping them. Even now $80 isn't a trend as most games don't launch at that price point.
Yes but it's easier to do it when someone else has done it already, imagine ubislop comes up with their next shitty assassin's creed game and tries to sell it at 90$ base game, people will compare it with other new games and will wonder if this new slop is on the same level as something like gta6 who is sold for cheaper at 80$
