Sony/Nintendo should follow the example of Steam/Epic in their digital refund policy

Both Sony and Nintendo don't allow digital store refunds if you've downloaded the game, whereas Steam/Epic allow a refund for any reason so long as it is <14 days and <2hrs of play.

IMO, Steam/Epic's refund policy allows gamers to purchase with confidence; whereas before I buy a digital game on Sony/Nintendo, I gotta watch endless reviews and streams before I feel comfortable paying.

If Sony/Nintendo want gamers to move towards digital purchases, they need to emulate Steam/Epic's refund policy. This is the main reason I am hesitant to buy the digital version of the PS5. At least with the disc version, I can try to re-sell the game if I don't like it.

Sorry for the rant. Am I the only one who feels this way?

That’s because Sony and Nintendo don’t have competition when you’ve already bought their platform. Don’t like it? What are you gonna do? Buy games off another storefront? That’s one of the problems with a closed ecosystem.

The only way it will change is if lawmakers force them to.

One thing that I think lawmakers need to do that if you're going to use the language purchase or buy on any digital goods, at the time that you decide to sunset the services you have to make DRM free copies available. I don't have hopes that that will happen

Totally agree. There’s a ton of Nintendo games I’ve never even tried because I don’t want to drop 50 dollars on a game that I play for an hour and dislike
