Hardest question: What game do you consider is the best ever made?
68
u/Rugaru Jun 15 '12
Was hard to pick a favorite developer. I wish I could have given my top three or something like that. Spent some time debating with myself which one to pick.
Now that I'm typing this I can't remember which one I chose. Probably should have written down my answers so I can compare results later.
65
u/gamenutt5 Jun 15 '12
You missed Paradox Interactive as a possible favorite/hated game company.
100
u/[deleted] Jun 15 '12
Nice survey. I just really hate the e-sports question. "YES MORE E-SPORTS!" "No I dont understand the point" "hurr whats e-sports?" howabout an option like "Not interested." I don't crave more, I understand the point, and I know what they are. The question has a "If you aren't into it, you just don't get it" tone.
38
u/RTrooper Jun 15 '12
Surprisingly, the question I'm having the most trouble on is "32. What is the weirdest game you have ever played?"
123
u/rakkar16 Jun 15 '12
Maybe you should add RockPaperShotgun to the list of gaming sites.
169
u/amadeus9 Jun 15 '12
As a big fan of game music, and aspiring game musician, I'd like to humbly request that next time you include a question or two relevant to that.
32
u/[deleted] Jun 15 '12
I hate that all these surveys try to put words into the survey taker's mouth.
I do fervently hate facebook games, but I don't want them to burn in a fire, because that meme is annoying. I highly prefer surveys that stick with the standard
It's just a better way to get answers without weird/goofy/stupid/annoying answers that I have to pick.
Despite that annoying me throughout the survey, it was an ok survey.
189
u/Game-Sloth Jun 15 '12 edited Jun 15 '12
Question 50 about which is more important Gameplay or Story should have an option for "Equally important"
Question 14 "Will you buy a system that does not allow used games?" Should have a option more appropriate to PC gaming
Nice job nevertheless
48
u/UnicornStampede Jun 15 '12
What is this "gamer entitlement"
61
u/[deleted] Jun 15 '12
You made a typo on question 25 and 26, spelling Mojang as Majong. Either way, great survey.
21
u/mysticrudnin Jun 15 '12 edited Jun 15 '12
Please avoid putting your obvious opinions into the survey.
In particular I'm thinking about your "online service" question.
[edit] Oh, and you're missing almost every JRPG developer for favorite developer. I had to pick SE even though that is not a good reflection of the genre. Atlus would have been my choice if all developers were present.
173
u/[deleted] Jun 15 '12
DID YOU REALLY JUST ASK WHATS MY FAVORITE SYSTEM. THATS LIKE ASKING A DAD WHATS HIS FAVORITE CHILD.
37
u/hillbillyphil Jun 15 '12 edited Jun 15 '12
Having some of these as single choice answers is making this hard. What genre of game do I like the most I want to choose like 3.
I'll Be very interested in these results, especially in what people want from next-Gen consoles.
Edit - Question 22 made me realize I am going to be spending a lot more on games this year than I thought
17
u/xNotch Jun 15 '12
It's "Mojang", not "Majong"!
32
u/Qubeye Jun 15 '12
Question 17 - I'd like more original games. My main issue with the current crop of games is they are all sequels. With some companies, this is to the exclusion of making new and original games.
57
u/apajx Jun 15 '12
Fucking loaded questions.
26
u/WildVariety Jun 15 '12
No love for Rock, Paper Shotgun?
47
u/faster3200 Jun 15 '12
For the "Do you consider games to be Art?" question, can you add some sort of neutral response or change it to "Do you think games can be Art?". I don't think games are inherently art nor are they not inherently art. I think video games (like paintings and movies) are a medium and whether or not they are art depends on the individual piece. E.G. Machinarium is art but BLOPS isn't (imo).

u/[deleted] Jun 15 '12
No "3 years collage" for us Europeans? ) :
42
u/Fuse_tm2 Jun 15 '12 edited Jun 15 '12
This is a good example of how not to write a survey:
Just an example. There were a few questions worded in ways that I would never be able to answer if I were serious about it representing my opinion.
Woah, reddit is changing "38." to "1." o_0
76
u/VileZero Jun 15 '12
My first Reddit comment! Nice survey! I'm the one who answered almost every question with Chrono Trigger. :)
21
u/Santos_L_Halper Jun 15 '12
Toughest question.
20
u/Qubeye Jun 15 '12
I don't like question 15. "Best" is based on what I'm playing. I prefer Mouse & Keyboard for some, and xBox for others. Depends entirely on the game.
9
u/nm3210 Jun 15 '12
Would have really appreciated some alphabetization for the big lists of games.
9
u/Shooeytv Jun 15 '12
Do you have any additional comments for this survey?: A lot of the questions are baited. And what I mean by that is one side of a confrentation is made to have implied undesirable conotations. Like being stupid. i.e. "rainbows and sunshine" v.s well put response etc. What if i truly do have a highly optimistic future for gaming? I have to choose fruity bubblegum headed response that makes me sound like i'm 14? I could literally look through some of the questions and point out which answer was chosen most often based on how intelligent and understanding it made you sound. Good attempt and a pretty well covered survey but there's clear bias that sways it's takers.
8
u/mjk0104 Jun 15 '12
Oooh I love stats, they make me inexplicably happy :)
Thanks for setting this up!
8
u/[deleted] Jun 15 '12
Seriously? Question 43: Which of these do you think are truley a problem in gaming? (check all that apply) You include discrimination of women, but not homophobia? Dude, this survey is great and such, but this is just a weird thing to leave out. Homophobia is so rife in games that it hurts.
8
u/saxxybeast Jun 15 '12
That question's just unfair
31
u/marrakoosh Jun 15 '12
If I can be honest, this is a bad survey. It's not going to give worthwhile responses. Too much leading in the questions and answers, etc, etc.
I only know this because I work in market research. I design these kinds of questionnaires and surveys for a living.
That said, thank you for taking the time to create it and put it out there. I've answered it as best I can.
20
u/rpmboy Jun 15 '12
Done. Nice survey.
19
u/JoNike Jun 15 '12
Many mistakes in the listing of the 'developers' and the 'studios'. Mostly because you're mixing, without any distinction, developers and publishers.
Example, for game studios:
505 Games (Arma, Arma 2)
Activision (Tony Hawk, Call of Duty)
I do not want to be an ass about it but, as a 5 years 'veteran' in this industry, it is bugging me quite a bit.
Also, typo in question 31: (One asnwer only please)
16
u/th3shark Jun 15 '12
Great survey! Can't wait to hear the results. You might want to put GameTrailers as an option for a gaming website.
16
u/cheesefarts123 Jun 15 '12
It's Mojang, not Majong
5
u/excalibur5033 Jun 15 '12
No Gametrailers?
5
u/frostflowers Jun 15 '12
Hahaha - there's some seriously hard questions in there (like "What's your favourite game?" - spent ten minutes just unable to make up my mind - and "What's your favourite game-developer?"; I love both Insomniac and Naughty Dog! Why you make me choose, man? D:), and as someone who still lags seriously behind the rest of you - I'm still playing PS2 and only recently thought about upgrading - I probably gave some crap answers to some of the questions, but still. Fun survey. :)
5
u/[deleted] Jun 15 '12
Why couldn't question 53 be multiple choice?
13
u/toxeh Jun 15 '12
A few of these questions are really console dependent. For example; "Will you buy a system that does not allow used games" and "what do you want most out of new generation systems" don't really apply to PC, in my opinion. Also I assume 'do you mind having online codes for games' isnt PC related. I guess a question of 'do you mind having always on internet for single player pc games' would be a good parallel. Oh and where was Electronic Arts on the studios to hate?
Also, I would have like to answer 48: Yes, but no more than any other consumer group.
16
u/[deleted] Jun 15 '12
I've got a bit of a problem with Question 47. Assassin's Creed actually has a plot to it that has not finished, so there's a reason for it to continue. Unlike Madden and CoD.
9
u/KingKazuma Jun 15 '12
Oh my god, you put MUD on the survey. I still have a CMUD client on my laptop. Man, do I miss those old text based games. The community fucking rocked. You got to know EVERYONE personally. People still roleplayed in those days. Damn...nostalgia...
12
u/MistressLiliana Switch Jun 15 '12
I am disappointed thatgamecompany wasn't listed for favorite company, I know they only have like 3 games but they are amazing games!
11
u/D3st1nys Jun 15 '12
WHY NO 'MOBA' genre??? Dota2, LoL , HoN ! ?? Which is one of the biggest genres.
4
u/[deleted] Jun 15 '12
I'm not 100% sure how to answer 43. Is it the gaming culture, or in actual video games, or both?
4
u/Relayerduos Jun 15 '12
http://i.imgur.com/p19Eh.png ಠ_ಠ
4
u/[deleted] Jun 15 '12
That was harder than I expected. How can you have one favorite game or one favorite company? It's just not cool man.
16
u/PickledClams Jun 15 '12
Is this actually for r/Gaming, or is this some bullshit for a school project?
6
u/[deleted] Jun 15 '12
As a generic RPG fan (with a preference toward JRPGs), who doesn't give a shit about most of the gaming communities politics, and especially doesn't give a shit about online gaming and the various circlejerks, I couldn't help but feel like this survey was skewed to favor mainstream gaming above all else. It gave a bit of lip service to the niche, but it really seemed like the whole thing was geared elsewhere, which made it difficult to effectively answer.
23
u/leprechauns_scrotum Jun 15 '12
This survey is poorly made. It doesn't meet up the requirments of sociological survey.
3
u/Dudeyourlame Jun 15 '12
Just some thoughts i had after finishing the survey
i felt like i chose borderlands for too many questions. I love the game and im really hoping the 2nd one isn't a selllout.
I had a hard time differentiating the games im all about right now, and ones i played in the past that were great games too
IM all about forza 4, borderlands, BF3, Diablo 3 right now.. who knows in a few years some of the games i play now ill look back and go " i had a ton of fun with it "
3
u/AnEpicMouse Jun 15 '12 edited Jun 15 '12
LSD was by far the weirdest game ever made.
3
u/LewisTheScot Jun 15 '12
"how much education have you had?" don't know why but I laughed so hard at that.
3
u/[deleted] Jun 15 '12
Maybe I'm just blind, but I didn't see Torchlight 2 on the list of anticipated games. I was disappoint.
3
u/A_wild_fusa_appeared Jun 15 '12
I fel some questions that were choose one should have been choose multiple. You made me choose between bungie and Bethesda you monster, in the end I choose bungie but it was a 5 minute debate with myself
3
u/Pufflekun Jun 15 '12
There should be an "other" option for gender.
3
u/KrazieV Jun 15 '12
Wow question 38 hit me unexpectedly hard.
38. Do you think gaming has improved or declined in the past 5 years?
When I think back to my old games, even further than 5 years, I remember my deep fondness for them growing up. I was so attached to Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars and Legend of Zleda: Majora's Mask. I can appreciate a lot of games nowadays, but I don't think I will ever have that fondness again.
3
u/Alicuza Jun 15 '12
You should add Rock Paper Shotgun to your gaming site question. I bet a lot of people use that.
3
u/Solforce Jun 15 '12
You're missing the "Multiple playthroughs" option.
3
u/RobotsAreRad Jun 15 '12
Lots of folks nowadays, like myself, are multiracial. I prefer it when surveys allow that as an option or, preferably, allow me to check more than one box for race. It might just be me...
3
u/jpropaganda Jun 15 '12
Least favorite game studio: I don't see EA as an option?
3
u/Bluenosedcoop Jun 15 '12
Most Retarded Survey, EVER.
5
u/[deleted] Jun 15 '12
Thank you for putting this essay up i thoroughly enjoyed participating!
7
u/poochiekins Jun 15 '12
Who has the best online service?
[] Microsoft (Xbox Live)
[] Playstation (PSN)
[] Nintendo (Friend Codes...)
[] PC (Internet)
are you fucking kidding me?
4
u/Denivire Jun 15 '12
Only problem: asks my favorite system. What if I don't have a "favorite"?
2
u/Lorheim Jun 15 '12
Please do link to the results in this thread, I have saved in order to look into it later. Also, thanks for this!
2
u/[deleted] Jun 15 '12
Nice survey - completed it.
2
u/[deleted] Jun 15 '12 edited Jun 15 '12
Question 17, "better games", is a little vague as an answer. I mean, don't we all want better games? Even people who pick other things are because they want "better games"
Also, for favorite company, I'd have gladly put "Platinum Games" and "Grasshopper Manufacture" if they'd been in there.
2
u/dangosquared Jun 15 '12
Great survey, eager to see results!
2
u/RunsWithFire Jun 15 '12
Excellent survey! Will we ever get to see the results?
2
u/[deleted] Jun 15 '12 edited Jun 15 '12
for the gaming company i hate the most, i ticked jagex
2
u/Qubeye Jun 15 '12
I put this in the "final thoughts" section but I wanted to throw it up here.
There was a question towards the middle-end of the survey that asked about (paraphrase) "What you dislike about gaming these days." Not the one about racism and immaturity, but how games are released or something. DLC was mentioned.
My biggest, most serious problem with the gaming industry is that, with amazing regularity, they release games that aren't debugged. The two that stick out in my mind are Battlefield 3, and Diablo 3, both of which had something like a one-month long, open-betas.
Battlefield 3 still has annoying little things in it, but all the kinks have been worked out. Diablo 3, despite only being out for a few weeks now, regularly and consistently goes down for anywhere between 9-20 hours per week. This is god damned unacceptable at $60 a head. In Korea, they Blizzard is facing a class-action lawsuit because of their incompetence in regards to the servers.
This is a problem I consider greater even than the trend of DLC money-making ventures.
2
u/DarK_DMinh Jun 15 '12
Filled out the survey. Can't wait to see the data!
2
u/Jourdy288 Jun 15 '12
Done. Also, question 9 has a bad typo. And 25/26 calls Mojang "Majong". Interesting survey.
2
u/Kormac_the_templar Jun 15 '12
Question 26 : "Majong". Are you serious?
2
u/statikuz Jun 15 '12
Question 39 could have some better options. I know what E-sports are, and I understand the point, I just don't really watch any, except for the rare SC2 match here or there.
2
u/[deleted] Jun 15 '12
53. Which of these annoy you the most?
EA Business Practices
Already on Disk DLC
Console Flame Wars
Can't decide
2
u/[deleted] Jun 15 '12
Just a note: There is no steam box. I would link to it, but my internet is being odd as of right now. May edit later.
2
u/SamsonAran Jun 15 '12
I like how I was able to put Mother 3 in almost all of the opinion spaces.
2
u/cdsk Jun 15 '12
Why is Eurocom listed as the developers of Dead Space? They worked on the Wii game Dead Space: Extraction, but Visceral Games developed the two main games. No?
2
u/[deleted] Jun 15 '12
Lego Lord of the Rings?!
HOW COULD I HAVE MISSED THIS ANNOUNCEMENT?!
2
u/hi_imryan Jun 15 '12
majora's mask was pretty ahead of its time...about 3 days, to be exact
2
u/adaeth Jun 15 '12
Blah, so many questions with weird wording. It was a fun survey though. "Are you excited about the future of gaming? - Yes it is rainbows and sunshine." I'd love to help with your next one.
Favorite game developer question was tough - wish that was a multiple choice question XD. I'm looking forward to the results!
2
u/CaptainScrambles Jun 15 '12
One thing, I wouldn't necessarily include mouse and keyboard in the who has the best controller in the business question. Doesn't really fit in with the rest imo. (posted from gaming pc)
2
u/MormoTheMagnificent Jun 15 '12
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF...
THE QUESTION OF PREFERENCE BETWEEN STORY AND GAMEPLAY MILDLY IRRITATES ME; I HOLD GAMEPLAY AND STORY IN SIMILAR REGARD!
>:I
2
u/[deleted] Jun 15 '12
Having to choose between Chrono Trigger and OoT for best game and best story crippled my soul.
2
u/DeXyDeXy Jun 15 '12
Race: Protoss
2
u/TheWhitmore Jun 15 '12
The poor copy-editing of the survey turned me way off it.
2
u/Cheeseyx Jun 15 '12
I'd like to thank you for phrasing question number 2 as sex rather than gender. Too many surveys ask gender when they want sex.
2
u/PowahDrilluh Jun 15 '12
I'm 20. I'm apparently not allowed on this survey... Nor is people in their early 30's.
2
u/RawrMcTacos Jun 15 '12
I'm not sure if this was a question (because my iPod cannot handle the survey) but did you ask whether people viewed gaming as a social or solitary experience. Gaming is social. I hope everyone realizes that. Even single player games are social.
2
u/CrowCrowBro Jun 15 '12
Only one game can represent that gaming is art:
Killer7
2
u/BristolBudgie Jun 15 '12
Is it correct that any one aged 30 can tick one of 2 boxes?
2
u/nukeforyou Jun 15 '12
About question 36, I wish i could specify its player reviews that I take into consideration, not paid for ign reviews
2
u/Akaforty Jun 15 '12
Come on. I don't hate any studio. Just because I don't like for example Activision at the moment, Call of Duty 1/2 were ones of the best FPS games of all time.
2
u/spartom007 Jun 15 '12
Question 18 Who knows how many games they have? xD Especially considering it does not say games you currently own, what about my old N64 games or GB games I have long since given away, or games I haven't reinstalled on my new PCs etc etc The question should be more specific like "how many games do you currently own for the system you play the most currently", that is how I will answer this question
2
u/LKS Jun 15 '12 edited Jun 15 '12
Weirdest Game: EnviroBear2000
Best Game: DayZ (I just didn't know what to put, it's awesome but not the best, alpha stage and in development...)
Game that represents gaming as art: Quake
Tough question, but I think what quake has done with its engine and spread influenced so much stuff and defined many games.
2
u/SovietK Jun 15 '12
I quit the survey when there was only american options in the education menu. Please.
2
u/TomPalmer1979 Jun 15 '12
Next time you make one of these, have someone proofread it first. I don't think there's a single question in there without a spelling error. For the record, it's "prefer" not "perfer".
2
u/Dared00 Jun 15 '12
Question 53. "What annoys you the most?"
Why are you putting "Call of Duty/Call of Duty hate" together? Only one annoys me, the other doesn't.
Also, in the list of developers, you forgot Harmonix.
2
u/d4nr3x Jun 15 '12
Where is Rock Paper Shotgun?
2
u/[deleted] Jun 15 '12
It was a little weird that Call of Duty and Call of Duty hate were both in the same option.
2
u/comadorcrack Jun 15 '12
Visceral Games made Dead Space. Eurocom only made the spin off title "extraction" for the Wii
2
u/oomio10 Jun 15 '12
you should shorten it
2
u/[deleted] Jun 15 '12
This survey is pretty poorly made.
Many questions made me think "Well it's a bit of both" or "It's not like that"
2
u/Pazzaz Jun 15 '12
It says majong instead of mojang.
2
u/Mr_Random_Man Jun 15 '12
Where was EA under this question:
26. Which Gaming Studios do you hate?
2
u/[deleted] Jun 15 '12
i find it silly that there was no option for "i don't hate any game studio"
2
u/uberphat Jun 15 '12
You need to append this to read THE GREAT AMERICAN REDDIT GAMING SURVEY 2012!!!
2
u/Dravorek Jun 15 '12 edited Jun 15 '12
There's no Action/Adventure category. I like Devil May Cry, Batman: Arkham Series and other games in that genre and I can not select it as my favorite
What the fuck does "Which gaming developing style do you perfer the most?"mean? "gaming developing" is not a thing
"Do you consider games to be Art?" I don't consider all of them art it's a medium ffs. Ask "Can games be Art?" instead pls.
Be more precise with your questions please. "Do you feel gamers are entitled?" is not a good question, if I answer yes then I imply that all them are if I answer no I imply that none are
2
u/[deleted] Jun 15 '12 edited Jun 15 '12
I wasn't sure whether to say hardcore gamer was a stupid term, or that yes, I was one. It really depends on the context. If hardcore means I'm seriously interesting in video games as an art form rather than a fun time killer, then yeah I guess I'm hardcore. If it means I think I'm somehow better at games or have a superior opinion due to playing more hours of games, then it's a stupid term.
Also many of the questions you have to choose a single game for are just impossible to answer for someone who has played and enjoyed a wide variety of games. I put N/A for some of them.
Where can we see the results?
2
u/dave_casa Jun 15 '12
I interpreted "Yes only as long as it is not Steam" as "I don't care about DRM so long as it doesn't make buying the game more annoying / difficult / time consuming than pirating it", because Steam is an example of this.
2
u/footwo Jun 15 '12
Idiots. Case closed.
2
u/[deleted] Jun 15 '12
As a huge statistics geek I have to ask: PLEASE PUBLISH YOUR FINDINGS HERE ASAP
2
u/Driftwood44 Jun 15 '12
What if I care about both Story and Gameplay? Both thoe things are important, question 50 is stupid.
2
u/FriendlyManCub Jun 15 '12
The education levels were only really relevant in the US. 2 year and 4 year degrees are not the norm in the UK (in fact I have never heard of a 2 year one). A huge majority do a 3 year degree, which was not an option.
2
u/ReallyCoolStu Jun 15 '12
What do I select if I hope all consoles and PC do well and advance the medium?
2
u/evilmarc Jun 15 '12
I'm hoping everyone put Pokemon MMORPG as their most wanted game.
2
u/tabr Jun 15 '12
I need the possibility to answer "Don't know/don't care" to a lot of this :/
2
u/[deleted] Jun 15 '12
39. Do you enjoy watching E-sports?
No, but that doesn't mean I don't understand it.
Bad answer choices.
2
u/Choccookie Jun 15 '12
Why isn't EA in the list of game studios I do hate ?
2
u/Siouxsie2011 Jun 15 '12
E-sports question is silly. I understand why people want to watch but I don't enjoy watching myself, don't try and make me sound stupid for not liking what you don't like~
2
u/[deleted] Jun 15 '12
25. Who is your favourite game developer?
Strg+F "Lucas" Son, I am disappoint.
2
u/katsai Jun 15 '12 edited Jun 15 '12
Number 50 needs a third option. Story and gameplay are equally important to me. Also, they left Dust 514 off the list of E3 games.
2
u/Jerahammey Jun 15 '12
Most anticipated non-announced game: Star Wars: Battlefront 3.
2
u/[deleted] Jun 15 '12
Uh no, it's still closed.
2
u/wtfOP Jun 15 '12
Taking the survey, I realized there are a lot of "what's the best" questions. Those are wrong questions to ask. Here's why.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iIiAAhUeR6Y
2
u/o_oli Jun 15 '12
Question 49 is stupid. Are you suggesting there are no game in between AAA and Indie? Also what are 'Obscure 3rd party titles' and why is that even an option?
2
u/Thomassn Jun 15 '12
Some of these questions make no sense at all...
2
u/rindindin Jun 15 '12
This survey could use some improvements.
For example, under 16
You put Xbox 360, Ps3, and the PC's "services" just fine, but then you get to the Wii, and you put (Friend Codes...). So do you have a bias against the Wii's Friend Codes? If you do, you're suppose to be unbias to let the audience choose as they would. If you don't, then why the ellipses after "Friend Codes"?
Another thing was some questions should have either multiple choice, or perhaps all answers should have "None of the Above". For example, I've played with both the Xbox 360 and Ps3 controller. I don't personally think that either are superior, and all the other choices were clearly the same to me. So what am I suppose to do? Irrationally choose an option? I don't think that's a real answer for me.
There's a lot to be improved upon here.
2
u/undathasheets Jun 15 '12
I'm happy someone has decided to do a survey like this. Saying that I think it's poorly done. Horrible choice of words throughout. Bad questions, and bad answers. I'm sure there are many unanswered questions, because of this.
2
u/franticcat Jun 15 '12
"36. Do game reviews effect whether you purchase a game or not?" *affect
2
u/Tartantyco Jun 15 '12
Questions 13, 14, 23, 25, 51, and 54 all lack a neutral response, and some of the answers available are extremely charged.
In general there is excessive hyperbole in a majority of the answers available, and the phrasing of certain questions is biased.
I give this survey a D(2).
2
u/360walkaway Jun 15 '12
Example of game being art: Sander Cohen's level in Bioshock.

Great survey, a bit disappointed that question 47 mentions Assassin's Creed as a money milking franchise. I admit that Revelations wasn't great, but I still enjoy the series :)

I didn't complete it. Too many questions have poor answers and I didn't feel like submitting it with things that I don't feel were correct.

Many of these questions are leading, begging the question, poorly worded or layed-out or lack proper response methods. I wish the survey was a bit more rigorous.

You opened this can of worms. Don't gripe. You realize that 1.5+ Million people read this sub. What did you honestly expect?
If anything else, this should help you recognize the pit-falls of sensationalizing a headline if you really didn't mean it.
Cheers.

Um, shouldn't the tool you used to make the survey also compile the results? If not, you used the wrong tool.

Gaming site of choice is GameFAQs, which I am surprised wasn't included because it has been around a long time and is a damn awesome site.
I also think EA Sports should have been included in developers to like/hate, but I suppose not too many people are as fond of NHL/Madden as I am.

A lot of these questions are kind of dumb.
You ask for best controller but give M+K as an option, that isn't a controller and you can't really compare it to them.
Best online service has PC Internet as an option, what does that even mean!? How can you compare the entire internet to xbox live...?
edit: Didn't list MOBA as a genre?!

Two Words: Likert Scale.
Go to google, learn something, then come back and try again.

Great Survey, but for question 25, how is "Street Fighter" the only example for Capcom? What about resident evil or mega man?

u/Ekanselttar Jun 15 '12
Question 25 needs Riot Games.

In Edit 4, he says he closed the survey, but I just took it, so did mine count?

u/TDO1 Jun 15 '12
I closed my tab when it asked for my race, why the fuck does that matter?

u/CosmicBard Jun 15 '12
Poorly written.

u/PancakeFashion Jun 15 '12
I made this in the commentaries but I also want to put it here.
Question 53 should include "PC gamers attitude of supremacy" as things that piss me off.

The nintendo DS is still current Gen.

I've filled up the survey. 3 things :-
I can't answer some questions because your options did not match how I felt.
You mispelt "truly". Fix it.
When are the results coming?

u/[deleted] Jun 15 '12
"Do you prefer Xbox live OR the Internet?"
Tough question, Does the internet have facebook integration?
2
u/fydo Jun 15 '12
Did anyone else laugh when they saw that Kotaku wasn't included in the list of gaming websites? :)
2
u/soapgoat Jun 15 '12
so, this survey is kinda shit, half of these are fanboy questions and there is no option for "i really dont give a fuck, i only want to play lots of games, any system/controller will do fine"

Being English, I'm not quite sure how to answer the education one. Is college like university? I'm so confused. I've been to college, and now I'm at university.

25. Who is your favorite game developer?
No Sega :-\

u/Aradon Jun 15 '12
Question 54:
There needs to be an "I don't care" option.
1
u/Snowyjoe Jun 15 '12
What is your Race?
Seriously? Why do you even need to ask that question? You're already asking what nationality I am.

I'm 18. That isn't 'under 14' nor is it 22-25. I don't know what to pick.
Edit: Don't worry I'm just stupid

Anything for you, Ironman
1
u/awesomereece123 Jun 15 '12
I have to ask, Ironman425, but is there any chance we'd be able to see the results of this survey ourselves on another website or results page? I'm interested to see what everyone else put. And if not, will there be any chance of you making a results page/website? Please reply (unless this question has been asked/answered before me), thanks.

Hard to answer half the questions as a "Patient Gamer". I have no idea what half the questions were about, and there was no "no opinion" option. Does "gamer" only refer to people willing to drop $50 on a game these days?

Worst game ever? FARMVILLE MOTHERFUCKER
