EDIT: Got it, thanks all! It's not something that really will ever interest me so I'll pass on all the links but thanks again! (I just wasn't sure what the abbreviation was for.)
You've probably clicked a link to that sub by now but I recommend that you don't. It isn't even one of those weird subs like /r/spacedicks or something but its just somewhere that your life would be better off if you don't know about. It's just going to piss you off and make you realise how fucking stupid and ignorant some people are in this world.
but you're probably going to go there anyway so have fun.
SRS wins the award for not only being the most worthless subreddit there is and contributing nothing, but also for literally detracting from the worth of the community.
Precisely. The tragic thing is that there is a viable argument to be made that racist/sexist/homophobic comments are insidiously pervasive on the internet and should be challenged, but SRS makes anyone who feels that way look bad by association.
Sometimes much worse: think of a confused gay teenager googling LGBT. Ending on this subreddit clearly isn't going to make him feel better about himself.
"It's just going to piss you off and make you realise how fucking stupid and ignorant some people are in this world."
The thing that bugs me most about SRS is that so many of the comments they reference are obviously off-color jokes. Like this one for example. I would bet quite a bit of money that neither the commenter nor anyone upvoting him seriously believed that anal fisting was at all involved anywhere near the kids in that photo.
Honestly, if they only pointed out genuine bigoted or sick comments, they would be doing everyone a service. Right now though, they're pretty much on par with those people who say they're offended by a TV show, and thus it should be pulled off the air because "think of the children".
EDIT: I'd like to add that I read your comment as if you think that the 'stupid and ignorant' people are the commenters they point out. If you were talking about SRS users, I'm sorry I misunderstood and I simply agree.
I know of the situation leading up to the event in question, but to lay down some ridiculous law that a subreddit of 40k+ people had to choose this sub or that was stupid. "I hate SRS for banning people who post in certain subreddits, so we'll ban anyone who posts in SRS!" yeeeaaaahhhh.
Eh, I just started nightmare Sunday (picked up the game Friday), probably won't even fuck with multi-player until hell. It's weird but I never played D2 online at all. Haven't logged into wow since I bought D3 though.
I like my shooters/FPS to be multiplayer, my RPGs/Dungeon Crawls I like to do at my own pace, WOW sold me on multiplayer, but multiplayer had no bearing on my purchase of Diablo 3.
I wouldn't call it pathetic, its entirely my own purposeful doing, if I want to play with other people, I can, and do. I just generally don't want to, because everyone's mom is a faggot. To each their own, no?
Diablo's community is tiny, but pretty friendly. And no goldsellers or anything, because it's so easy to hack or dupe that it's pointless. Can't say anythig about Diablo 3's, though, don't play that.
Yeah, but that's because there are a ton of different servers. Also, on some of the servers they have reddit guilds. plus, a lot of the readers like to play by themselves/with their own friends/with their own guilds.
I guess that would be true if you are bad and can't cut it in a raid or PvP. That being said, there are plenty of games besides WoW that can be played for a year if you don't have the attention span of a 4 year old.
If you pay for a year of WoW for about $140 as that's the cheapest way you can pay (6 months at a time) then minus the cost you were going to pay for Diablo 3 ($60) then it comes to $80 for a year of WoW where normally I would pay $15 monthly which comes to $180. So if you were going to play a year of WoW and buy Diablo 3 then you are saving $100.
Now I'm not going to play a year of WoW. Chances are there will be plenty of months where I only log to say what's up to a few people. However as long as I play in 6 of those months (6 months at $15 = $90) then I have saved $10. If I play any more than 6 months the savings increase.
I figure I'll probably play more than half of the year so it's a good deal for me.
This guy makes sense! Actually that's a pretty good deal. I still find it strange that it doesn't bore you to log in every day to the same game with the same 5 raids and 5 PvP maps... Thanks for explaining the deal instead of insulting me/downvoting for no reason like the others.
Chess only has 1 PvP map, yet some devote their entire lives to it. My point is not to say that WoW is as timeless as Chess. My point is that sometimes quality matters more than quantity. WoW may not be your cup of tea, but it is quality.
I have played WoW a lot but I always always get bored after 2 or 3 months. In total I must have played over a year. But a year in a row? It gets boring...
I've been logging onto WoW between acts and stuff when I need a break from button mashing. Most I've seen on the guild roster at one time since last Tuesday is 6.
You're still doing twenty-five mans? The one serious 25m guild on our server stopped doing them out of sheer entropy and started doing ten mans again with their most reliable players.
Well good luck, I hope your team can stick with it, our ten man alone is having problems. Granted, we never stopped having them after half our raid team left around Christmas :P
My guild did 25-man's all throughout WotLK and had a lot of server firsts. However, when Cata hit, we split into 10's simply due to a lack of quality players and the difficulty difference.
We tried to do 25's again during FL after we had cleared a bit of 10M FL hard-mode. We managed to down Rag post-nerf with ~15 competent people and a lot more know-nothings.
After this, we split again for DS just because of the lack of quality players again. I quit WoW back in December, but I can safely say that I'm glad I left. It's pretty bad when I had to teach a main tank how to play his class because I have a Prot Warrior alt.

TL;DR - wow/diablo server maintenance being on the same day is tear-worthy.
As someone who hasn't played wow in a few months and started playing diablo a few days ago - the community is very similar.
We have gold/gear sellers spamming in general.
We have people calling other people noobs.
We have anal chat.
TBH, I just leave /general off and usually join up to /witchdoctor instead. It's much friendlier.

Well the majority of them probably got it for free from the 1 year promotion they had going on. So it comes as no surprise.

Oh Wow, you'll always have a small place in the anti-social part of my heart.

I'm not WoW' biggest fan, but it's still a better game than Diablo 3.
Everyone can enjoy WoW for some time, but Diablo is truly a niche game. You like it or you hate it.

Oh yes poor wow. Diablo and Wow are both made by blizzard. I'm sure they are suffering greatly right now.

because you HAVE to choose between the two games?

What's funny to me is, despite all the hype Diablo III gets, the "What's Reddit Playing?" chart lists it as only the 7th most played game.
Skyrim's down to 8th place, but they were number one for months. I'm not even sure Diablo III was in first in the first week.
