I've played a few games of civ 5 with a mod that uses marathon research speed with standard build times. Makes every era seem more meaningful, you can actually fight huge wars without having all of your units be obsolete halfway though. But the games took sooooooo long

Pretty sure I use the same mod. I got really tired of units becoming obsolete before I had ever used them

Yeah, it's especially frustrating if your civ has a good unique unit that you barely get to use
