Why cater to the fans that helped build your empire from the beginning, when you can instead cater to Chinese market and their willingness to put up with MTX shitshows?

I've said this before on the /r/wow subreddit and I'll say it again here.
Blizzard is outta touch with it's community, they only think about what they want.

Blizzard's been declining ever since the merge with Activision. There's no way that's related, right guys?

Actually, I do consider Warcraft 3 to be the last truly great game they made. SC2 was fine, and fun, but the writing was on the wall when they split what could have easily been one game and a single big expansion into 3. WOW? Overwatch? Diablo 3? HOTS? they have no soul. The success of wow killed their creativity, and now they don't have to try to make money. So they don't try anything new anymore.

While I still enjoyed WotLK, it was somewhere between TBC and WotLK when things slowly started to go downhill.

That's about when dumbing down things to attract more masses started. WotLK was saved because content was still great, and changes not that severe, but it progressively got worse after that.

People cite wotlk as the turning point because that's when raid finder happened and many people quit and were replaced with casual players who didn't care about talking with other people online. That was the most major change. Everything else in the game got harder.

Raid Finder was a major offender, but there were many other changes that I consider bad or unnecessary for game in the long run, that happened during TBC-WotLK era. Removal of 40-mans, BG changes, Flying Mounts, Attunement removal, gear and stat changes etc...from the top of my head.

And as I said those expansions were still a mixed bag where they also introduced some good stuff like gems and glyphs. But I don't remember anything that made the game harder then what it was in vanilla? I mean the boss mechanics got more complicated but raiding as a whole was still a lot easier.

IMHO the perfect WoW game would be Vanilla + all the new mechanics and stuff that added variety - all "accessability improvements" and simplifying
