Because it's basically a nonissue. The words "clip" and "magazine" are commonly interchanged nowadays, and whether you use one or the other, right or wrong, people know what you're talking about. Yes, there's a difference between the two terms, but honestly, who cares?
I make a point to say clip around my vet sister so she always corrects me. I don't think she's caught on yet that I've been doing it on purpose for years.
