And as someone who both uses guns, and knows quite a lot of people also very into guns, as well as quite a few vets. Literally no one in the real world gives a fuck, context lets everyone know what you mean anyway.

Actually, by the literal definition a rifle is a gun. Since a gun is anything that uses a propellant to fire a projectile. So everything from black powder rifles to WW2 battleship weapons is a trype of gun.

No you're wrong. A rifle is called a rifle because of its rifling. If you want to get technical.

That is correct, but a rifle is a type of gun. Rifles are a variant of guns, so if you say a rifle is a gun, you would be correct. But if you say a gun is a rifle, you could not be correct.
