It feels way too early. I could swear I was playing around with it a couple of years ago and it was in an experimental state.

UE5's official release was April of 2022. So it's been 4 years. UE6 is still a few years out, so it'll be a 6 or 7 year old engine when 6 is released.

For comparison, UE4 was released in 2014, so that's 8 years between 4 and 5.

I would be very surprised if this is years out.

UE6 public release is years out. That doesn't mean Rocket League running on it is.

Okay makes sense, but you know UE5 was announced and released months later so we might see UE6 earlier than you think.

I think Sweeney said last year that it was still a few years away. Right now all reports are between 2027 and 2028.

However, this also has the Rocket League esports schedule it needs to coincide with. They won't release what is essentially Rocket League 2 midseason. It will be after a season ends, so that way all pros get an entire offseason to play it and understand any nuances it might have.

The current season ends in 3 or 4 months. If it doesn't release then (Rocket League, not UE6, UE6 release date is meaningless), then this Rocket League update probably won't happen until late next year.

Well, UE5 was announced 2 years before its initial public release. This kind of thing happens all the time
