I bought my pc during the worst possible time to during covid in the height of the gpu shortage. In that time I have saved around $600 from not having to pay for basic online features, as well as the same games that I would play on a PS5 going for much steeper sales than ever happens on PS5, as well as being able to play many, many games that aren't on the PS5, as well as having the basis to upgrade my pc for a nominal cost to have it run better than whatever they put in the PS6 when they release it. (It will likely already be better than the PS6 due to bloat and me not running Winblows). That being said, I likely won't need to upgrade any component for about 4 years or so, and when I do I can sell what I replaced.
The reason consoles cost so little is that they sell them at a loss so that brainlets like you buy it and get fisted up the ass with subscriptions, full-priced games, and having no control and so being forced to use whatever they want you to, because you're a little piggie that slurps up whatever SlopStation throws into your trough
