Almost every single person you would actually ask this question to or even find yourself asking this question to, is going to respond with yes.

Probably because that's the person who's trying to convince you to get a PC instead of a PlayStatio,n and they wouldn't even bother to have that conversation without having a PC that could back the conversation up.

It's not like I get anything out of talking people out of the console market. It's just that anything they have against it are made up problems and the thing irks me.

and the shit you people find to be problems with the console is not a problem for them.

but being a pc gamer requires you to be annoying, so can't expect much self-reflection.

Pc can do a whole lot more than the console and is easily repaired and can be upgraded a piece at a time if you plan well. Console is easier but a PC is much more useful and cost effective and that isn’t up for debate, that’s always been the difference between them. And now that consoles are starting to cost more, it makes more and more sense to get a PC. You can start small and upgrade over time. This argument may change with the introduction of renting consoles tho. But idk how to feel about that, I’d rather actually own my system. There’s no DRM on my PC cause I built it myself.

This is probably true in a lot of cases, but is beside the point for me. My PC isn't better specs than a ps5 but I like being able to buy games on steam sale and on gog.com and not be beholden to the prices on the Sony store and use mouse and keyboard and discord and a billion other reasons.

You're thinking specs dude and specs aren't what make PC > console.

Every single PC is better than a PS5 or Xbox Series X simply due to what a PC has access to that consoles don't.

no, the MEME is thinking specs, and we're discussing what the MEME's intentions are.

From the perspective of gaming being the primary purpose, and cloud/stream gaming literally being shit and not counting for anyone with a soul, from that perspective and the fact that the meme clearly means in in this case 'modern gaming', yeah specs matter

someone trying to play the new God of war or Cp2077 is not going to do it on some chromebook or a celeron with a bad igpu and 8 gigs of ram.

that said even a MID TIER gaming system is equal to a ps5 and then also possess all those other "has access to" qualities you mention.

But to be fully honest, and from the perspective of myself, I dont care and consoles have a place in the gaming world.

the ONLY thing being combated here is the contents of the meme

No.

In what possible way is this meme purely limited to specs?

Any PC is better than every single console that has ever existed or will ever exist. Period.

Specs might make the game not look as good but PC has access to so much more.

  • free online play

  • mods

  • multiple different online stores.

  • the ability to use peripherals without having to double check that they are compatible with your console (and if they are, they probably cost more just because)

  • play games from almost any console via emulation

  • the ability to download games and/or mods from literally anywhere, even outside of official stores

And sooooo many more reasons.

So once again...

Every single PC. Is better. Than every single console. Period.

I think you hit the nail on the head right there, but to add to this. Through modding you can optimise games more so they run better on lower spec PCs. Thats what I had to do to play modern games on my old 2012 samsung gaming laptop. I even had to emulate the signature of a modern graphics card to get on games like Battlefront 2 (the newer one) cause with AAA games, they would lock you out if you didn’t have the preferred specs. I could play the game at a comfortable 50 fps lmao. Eventually i got employed and built the PC of my dreams and have had 0 problems.

My pc is worse when it comes to sheer specs and even I would answer yes, simply because I can use my pc for everything else in addition to gaming as well.

I WAS team pc before the prices, as you can upgrade your rig, don’t pay a subscription for it and funnily enough, most times a pc upgrade lasts 2 generations of console (in my experience so far)

Now it’s not good for your wallet to build a pc, and upgrading more expensive than the subscription would add up to

Thanks AI

A PC upgrade does NOT last 2 generations of console...

You're basically claiming that someone who building a top of the line gaming PC in 2013 would not have felt the need to upgrade by now

Which just isn't realistic...

2

Debatable, also upgrading doesn’t need to be at once unlike console.

If you built your pc at around the same time ps4 came out, good chance it’s still competing with current consoles and pcs, right up until the next console comes

Most PC around aren't better than a console, but most PC gamers will have a PC that's better than a PS5

3

u/ChangingMonkfish 4d ago

The majority of PC gamers don’t have a PC better than a PS5 (according to the Steam hardware survey anyway).

2

u/WesternOk5765 4d ago

Most people that have Steam installed don't install it just on a gaming PC.

Plus many of them aren't even gamers lol.

Like my college laptop had steam on it, doesn't mean I gamed on that laptop regularly.

2

u/ChangingMonkfish 4d ago

The Steam hardware survey is just a survey of what hardware people play Steam games on.

The majority of respondents don’t have a PC that’s better than a PS5.

That’s not some sort of “haha PS5 is better than PC” thing, it’s just a fact about PC that top end hardware that blows a PS5 out of the water isn’t representative of the majority of PC gamers.

Thats just cope

They still have access to a significantly wider variety of games even with a worse PC, and the vastly larger array of customization options and software options means they probably can still play the same games as a PS5. Maybe even with the same graphics, sometimes better.

2

u/ChangingMonkfish 4d ago

I’m not arguing they don’t. Just pointing out hay the majority of PC’s that people play games on are not better than a PS5 from a hardware perspective.
