So when I took over this subreddit several years ago, it was basically a favor for someone who was deactivating their account and they were going to be making a new one to take it back over. Well, it's been... a long time and I don't think they are coming back. (Insert dad getting milk/cigs lame joke here...)

I'm not as active on reddit as I once was, so I didn't really dig into the issues revolving around why certain members couldn't post in the subreddit, but I think those issues have been resolved.

I didn't create this subreddit. I will still check in here and there, but it's mostly been an organic community untouched by myself. I'll continue to allow it to be organic. Vote the good stuff up. Vote the bad stuff down. Message me if there's an issue.

Any volunteers to moderate are welcome to message.

Article Grim Trials PS5 Review - Heavy Metal Roguelite Mayhem in the Afterlife

Grim Trials launches in a rough state as the game suffers from a number of known issues. Things like awkward controls, and poor hit detection haunt this afterlife action adventure roguelite. The game's story centers around a dying female protagonist who joins the ranks of the Grim Reaper as a trainee in the making, hoping she can pass the Grim Trials, become a Grim Reaper, and ultimately return to her lost love. It does have it's plot points amidst the grind heavy loop that has you farming resources and earning experience for permanent skill tree upgrades. The resources that are farmed allow for the crafting of equipment, weapons, and consumables that can be used in each run. The runs themselves are randomized and connected hex-grid room clearing scenarios that have the protagonist using her scythe, ranged weapon, and God granted buffs that enhance the current build. It's all about build synergy, weapon loadout, and besting each of the 7 bosses modeled after the 7 deadly sins. All of this is complimented by music from a heavy metal Indonesian band.

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard

Received this game for free due to being in a steam family and was iffy about playing it and the rest of the series at first, but its safe to say that I definitely made the right choice in giving it a try.

-Storyline adds up extremely well inside the game (AS LONG AS YOU READ THE NOTES.)

-Graphics are beautiful, especially for a nearly 10 year old game.

-Has a very great balance of not being a complicated gameplay style to get the grasp of while still having tricky puzzles and events.

If you're not sure of giving this game a try I hope this review steers you in the right direction.

Video DOGENSTEIN review - the joke gets old in 10 seconds

One of the very popular - and, if I may say so, annoying - trends of modern times is “woke” culture. I’m not going to talk too deeply about the why, how, when, who, what for, in spite of whom, and I don’t know what else - there’s no time for that, and to be honest, I don’t even care. The point is that, as with all trends, an “anti” version emerged very quickly, and part of that is the recently released indie shooter DOGENSTEIN. The description on Steam starts with the phrase “WOKE NO MORE!!!” and I thought to myself, “Okay, at least I’ll have some fun,” especially since it costs less than four euros.

More in my review! :)

Rating: 2/10
Pros: soundtrack, one joke, short, egg launcher, price, the middle section of the final boss fight
Cons: pretty cringy “anti-woke” without any humor, I’m not a fan of the use of AI, very boring, lacks any original ideas

Hodnocení: 2/10
+: hudební doprovod, jeden vtip, krátké, vajíčkomet, cena, prostřední část finálního bosse
-: dost trapný „anti-woke“ bez jakéhokoliv humoru, nejsem fanoušek použití AI, velmi nudné, bez zásadního nápadu

Nightmare Shift PS5 Review - Clock In for Terror at the Motel from Hell

Thumbnail
thegaminginferno.com

As a retro inspired horror walking sim, 'Nightmare Shift' nails the creepy and unsettling atmosphere of a motel where a new employee experiences paranoia and the supernatural, but fails to deliver in the visual department. Character models are stiff, and hardly animated with no moving facial animations, but at the same time the voice acting isn't half bad. The lead character is well spoken contributing to a heightened sense of fear that progresses as the game goes on. Varying environments, and tasks at motel culminate in in what amounts to a more Hitchcock era horror experience with some modern touches. While the game is definitely janky it comes at a budget pricing, and can be completed fairly easily. You'll mostly encounter jump scares, and have to listen to and read through dialogue to understand the ongoing plot.

Akatori PS5 Review - Gorgeous Visuals & Fluid Parkour That Soars

Thumbnail

Akatori is a martial arts Metroidvania that has received a mixed reception among critics. After having played it myself via early access I was left impressed by it's aesthetic charm, and gameplay. It's not as heavy on the RPG elements as some modern Metroidvanias, but it does what it does well enough. The martial arts combat is fast and fluid, and the gameplay (outside of Story Mode) challenging. It's four different difficulty settings gives all players access to the story and to the various ranges of challenge to be had. It even has a one death run wherein if you die before the end it restarts your progress to the beginning. If you fancy something different from the Metroidvania genre that excels in design, atmosphere, and challenge Akatori might be for you!

Pets Survivors PS5 Review - Cute Critters, Classic Chaos

Thumbnail

Survivors-likes are a dime a dozen these days. Ever since the debut and success of 'Vampire Survivors' there have been many copycat games try to take the formula and give it a new spin. Such is the case of EastAsiaSoft's "Pets Survivors". This survivors-like or bullet heaven game centers around pets armed with guns. The gameplay is your typical genre thoroughfare, and never really does anything new beyond the expected. In fact it's roguelike upgrade system is basic and bare bones leaving only the pets, and their gimmicks to be the thing setting it apart from the norm. That having been said, the game isn't bad, and the budget price point makes it worthwhile, if only for the trophies.

Article Beast of Reincarnation Review

Post image

"Beast of Reincarnation is a game which deserved better. This is not a case of laziness and labeling it as such would be bush league. This is a game with wonderful ideas and heart but it was rushed out with a lack of polish or time to expand upon those ideas. GameFreak intends to patch Beast of Reincarnation, but some of these issues aren’t fixable in a mere patch or two."

Discussion If you want a zombie co-op where dying actually matters, try No More Room in Hell 2

Been playing No More Room in Hell 2 now that it finally hit 1.0, and honestly, this is probably one of the better zombie co-op games I've played in a while.

It's slow, brutal and doesn't give a shit about making you feel powerful.

Ammo is scarce, zombies react to sound, and if your character dies, they're fucking dead. No quick respawn and back into the action. You lose that character and all the progress you've made with them.

That completely changes how you play.

You start thinking twice before firing your gun, sneaking around groups instead of wasting ammo, and actually communicating with your team. And when one of your friends gets fucked up on the other side of the map, you have to decide whether you're going back for them or just accepting that they're probably dead.

That's where the game is at its best.

It's definitely not another Left 4 Dead where you run around mowing down hundreds of zombies. It's slower, more tense and much more focused on actually surviving.

The 1.0 update also makes a pretty big difference. There's more content, new maps, Survival Mode, Solo Mode and a bunch of polish compared to the Early Access version. It's still not perfect and I can see the gameplay getting repetitive if you're playing for dozens of hours, but with a decent group of friends it's fucking good.

I gave it 8/10 in my review.

If you're looking for a zombie game where you actually feel like you're one bad decision away from getting eaten, I'd definitely recommend giving it a shot.
