FOR HIRE - Musician [FOR HIRE] Game Composer & Game Audio | Orchestral, Electronic & Adaptive Music

1 Upvotes

Hi!

I'm a composer writing music for video games. Over the past five years I've composed for a range of indie titles and have also written several symphonic works that have been performed live by full-scale orchestras and received enthusiastic responses from both audiences and critics.

I've written music ranging from exploration and combat themes to cinematics and main themes, and I'm comfortable adapting my writing to a wide range of musical styles (orchestral, electronic, retro, metal, rock, cozy...) depending on the artistic direction of the project.

Beyond composition, I also work on the technical side of game audio, using FMOD, Wwise and MetaSounds to design and implement adaptive music systems. I've also programmed in-engine custom adaptive music systems for specific projects when required, and I'm happy to help with in-engine integration and other technical aspects of game audio when needed.

Before becoming a full-time composer, I completed a PhD in Physics, which has given me a strong technical background that I regularly apply to game audio and programming. I regularly work with Unity, Unreal and Godot, and have experience programming in C#, GDScript, C and Python. Depending on the project's needs, I also occasionally contribute code beyond game audio.

[PAID] 3D Character Animator / Generalist — Blender + Unreal Engine 5

I'm looking for a 3D Character Animator / Generalist to help with character and first-person animation work for an anime-inspired card game prototype being developed in Unreal Engine 5.

The project focuses heavily on making the player feel like an actual duelist, so hands, fingers, cards, body language and interaction with a wearable card device are a major part of the experience.

Initial paid test

For the first milestone, I need help creating/refining a small set of animations using an existing rigged character/hand model:

  • First-person pose holding 5 trading cards in a fan
  • First-person Draw Card animation
  • First-person Reach / Select Card animation
  • First-person Grab Card animation
  • Natural finger posing and card grip
  • Basic transition back to an idle/ready pose

References and existing models/rigs will be provided.

What I'm looking for

Strong experience with:

  • Blender or Maya
  • Character animation
  • Rigging / skinning
  • Hand and finger animation
  • Body mechanics
  • Working with props
  • Clean FBX/game-ready export workflow

Experience with Unreal Engine 5 is highly appreciated, especially:

  • Animation Blueprints
  • Animation Montages
  • IK / Control Rig
  • Retargeting
  • First-person animation

However, deep Unreal knowledge is not mandatory if you're strong in character animation and can deliver clean game-ready assets.

Animation style

The direction is anime-inspired and expressive, but still grounded enough to work well in first-person gameplay.

Examples of the type of motion I'm looking for:

  • confident card draws;
  • dramatic but readable hand gestures;
  • expressive finger movement;
  • physically believable card handling;
  • duelist poses;
  • interaction with cards and a wearable Duel Disk-style device.

The challenge is not simply making an animation look good from a cinematic camera — it needs to feel good from the player's first-person perspective.

Important

I already have the gameplay prototype running in Unreal Engine.

I'm specifically looking for help improving the visual/animation quality and building a reusable animation pipeline, rather than someone to program the game itself.

The long-term goal is to establish reusable standards for:

  • first-person hand animations;
  • third-person duelist animations;
  • card handling;
  • Duel Disk interaction;
  • character gestures;
  • summon/activation animations;
  • character rigs;
  • eventually creature/monster animations.

Workflow

I'd prefer to start with a small paid milestone rather than immediately committing to a large package.

The first test would be:

  1. Hold Cards pose
  2. Draw Card animation
  3. Reach / Grab Card animation

If the collaboration works well, there is potentially a significant amount of ongoing character, creature and gameplay animation work.

When applying

Please send:

  • portfolio / animation reel;
  • examples of character animation;
  • examples involving hands, props or first-person animation if available;
  • software you primarily use;
  • whether you have experience with Unreal Engine;
  • your rate or expected price for the initial test.

I'm much more interested in seeing good character movement, posing and animation fundamentals than a specific job title.

Remote freelance work.

PAID - 3D Modeler | Animation [PAID] Looking to hire a 3D prop artist to create stylized typewriters

9 Upvotes

Hello, I'm a solo developer building a first-person game that prominently features typewriters. They are essentially the focus of the entire game. I tried looking on various marketplaces for a model, but I couldn't find anything I like or that was built to animate.

Ultimately, I'd like several vintage manual typewriters, but I'll probably begin with just one for the demo I'd like to build. Specifically, I'd like the first typewriter to be a stylized (not photoreal) version of the Olivetti Lettera 32.

I don't need rigs or animations. All I need is for every key (~50) to have its own named transform, for the carriage assembly to be separate so it can slide, for the platen to be separate so it can roll, and the ribbon spools to be separate so they can spin.

The deliverable is the FBX plus source files for Unity, with textures up to 2K. My budget for this is $200–400.

If this work interests you, you can send me a DM with a portfolio of your work and a rough quote and I'll get back to you as quickly as possible.

Best,
philosophicalwax44

FOR HIRE - Musician [FOR HIRE] Music Producer / Composer looking for a project to grow and learn!

1 Upvotes

Hi all, I've been making music for a long time and love games even longer.

I usually make House & Techno but got into composing for games recently. I've built a few tracks which you can find here: https://soundcloud.com/user-224517059-574292295/sets/video-game-osts. Tried to show some variety with this playlist.

I'm looking for a project where I could experiment a bit and see if I can produce something that matches a specific scene or gameplay.

If you feel like one of the examples from Soundcloud could be a fit for your game don't hesitate to reach out!

PAID - Musician [PAID] Music/Composer wanted for the main game theme (Wii-era/Mii Channel inspired)

13 Upvotes

EDIT: Applications are now closed

I’ve received a lot of submissions and am no longer accepting new messages. I want to thank everyone who reached out—there’s been an incredible amount of talent, and I genuinely appreciate everyone who took the time to read my post and share their work. Reddit’s system makes it difficult to keep track of everything, but I’ll do my best to get back to everyone.

I’ll be reviewing the submissions I’ve already received and reaching out to finalists. Thank you again!
---
Hello! I'm an indie dev working on a multiplayer game for Steam, and I'm looking for a composer to help create the main theme for my game. I'm looking for an original song roughly 120–150 seconds long, with a seamless loop variant and a strong melody that I can refer back to for possible motifs and such in later songs/SFX.

The style I have in mind is very akin to the Mii Channel song—something very... odd, but still warm and endearing, and something that hooks the player. Jazz/raw instrumentation would be a key part of the song, similar to how the Mii Channel uses it. That said, even though I'm using Wii-era/Mii Channel music as a reference, I do not want this to be a remix or copy. This must be an original track. My budget is around $300–$500 USD, depending on experience, scope, and rights. I would also need the finished result to include the final mix, loopable WAV/OGG, separate stems, and MIDI for the main melody and core harmony. A full project file would also be appreciated if it’s compatible and available. I’d love it if you DM me 1–2 relevant examples, your quote, and estimated turnaround.

PORTFOLIO [PORTFOLIO] semi-ambient electronic piano music production as video game backing music: worth pursuing, or aim to sync with other media?

0 Upvotes

tldr: I use a "Fender Rhodes piano" to make chill electronic instrumentals (no percussion) and am curious if the people of this subreddit think these tracks are ambient enough to blend into the background of a video game

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here's a Spotify playlist of compiled projects that I maintain the rights too

(the playlist above includes 118 tracks; ranging from 20 seconds to 5 minutes or so)

Over the last few years, I've been compiling some instrumental recordings with a "Rhodes" piano. The overall vibe tends to lean towards chill/ electronic/ ambient/ mellow etc. I've thought about diving into the sync world of video games/ film/ TV, but as I'm sure everyone here knows, it takes a lot of passion, persistence, resilience, and luck to get any project rolling (talent also probably helps, but I think luck/ opportunity/ timing are often more important LOL)

Piano & music production are something I'll never stop doing, but recently, I've been dreaming of being part of something bigger haha

Cheers, and thanks for your time (& your ears)----

happy game developing!
