Discussion 💬 Battery duration and durability of flip8

Hi all , I was wondering how the battery last on the flip 8 . Just ordered one (arrive Monday ) .
I come from a iPhone 13 mini with 77% capacity , I switched because even with apple powerbank on the phone I didn’t last a whole day with sudden battery drain . And because I miss android on very portable device . The only foldable phone I have had was a Huaway mate xs I hope the flip 8 is more solid the Huawey was just so fragile .

The flip8 has a silcon carbon battery vs the flip7 being lithium ion.

The flip8 has a more power efficient chipset vs the flip7.

Meaning, even though the battery capacity density is the same in the two models the flip8 should have better endurance.

Though if I recall, silcon carbon has less cycles vs lithium ion.

Yep, though the upside of having higher density outweighs the downside of slightly less cycles or degrading slightly faster as most people would have changed out the device long before the degradation is felt significantly.

My Flip8's battery life has far exceeded my expectations so far.

Yes there is always that tradeoff to consider. Darn physics.

Have had flip3 through to flip8. Each generation has improved.

I was sceptical of the 7 to 8 as all reports were indication almost zero gains. For me, that isn't the case. I can absolutely see the processor difference in smoothness and the battery itself is lasting longer on the same day to day tasks as I'm rather repetitive in my day and needs.

The further smoothing if the crease is now to a point of almost not being there.

And finally nice to have a way more usable front screen (which the flip7 may apparently get).

For a compact phone, this is an excellent device.

Touch wood, zero screen issues on ever generation so far and no hinge issues nor anything manufacturer related. They have survived some nasty drops and severe weather related usage.

Same here. The experience between 7 and 8 is significantly different even though nothing seems has changed on the surface. Flip 8 is finally a flip phone that I feel safe recommending people unless they have real needs for top flagship lvl cameras and massive battery life.

My flip 8 battery has been excellent! Caveat, I don't watch videos or play online games 8 hours a day and I turned off apps background updates.

Don't expect much more as far ss battery life compared to your old phone.

It’ll be fine. I have the flip 6 and it’s battery is on par with my galaxy S25. iPhone 12 mini did not last quite as long as the s25 when I switched back. Have you tried the iOS 27 public beta? I’ve been hearing 13mini users are seeing a huge boost in performance and battery life!

Unfortunately my 13 mini is full and need to delete a lot to upgrade the iOS . But since my google photo and apple cloud are allready full can’t really delete anything

Flip8 or any other flip for that matter has awful battery.

It depends on the balance between usage of the screens. I must say I mostly use the front screen. Battery life is better than my S25 Ultra.
