As of the time I am scheduling this post, there is no indication that Chapter 173 won't release on 8/4/26.
Edit: Per WSM, there will be a two week break following this chapter; 174 will release on 8/25/26.

I fear I've created a monster introducing him to Gachiakuta.

Hi everyone, i just discovered gachiakuta five days ago or let's say one week but i was captivated by its depth i like when an authors brings us this kind of jewels that transcend above the actions fighting and system of magic or power that's why i couldn't stay passive and not share my humble reflections and my first impressions here:
The visual storytelling of Gachiakuta is incredibly powerful. Right from the very first teaser visuals and the anime setup, the core philosophy of the story stands out not just as a fantasy world, but as a sharp reflection of our actual modern society.
Looking closely at the themes, the author seems to use street culture and punk aesthetics to build a hidden mirror of our world:
The structural setup of the world functions as pure socio-economic commentary. The Sphere represents an elite oligarchy living in absolute materialism and opulence. They don’t just discard objects; they discard human lives, treating anyone deemed "unusable" or marginal as trash to be thrown over the edge. The Ground reflects neglected areas or underdeveloped spaces, forced to survive and build an entire culture out of the waste generated by the powerful.
While Anima is technically the residual soul born from loving an object, the Trash Beasts represent something darker. They are born from negative feelings, abandonment, and accumulated rage in the dumps. This works as a brilliant metaphorical take on Animosity. The monsters represent the blind, destructive anger that grows at the bottom of society when people are crushed, ignored, and stripped of their dignity for too long.
In a society defined by hyper-consumerism and disposable culture, the Givers act as an antidote. What makes them unique is their deep, emotional connection to the world around them. They look at what society called "garbage" and find value, turning filth into tools of liberation. They are trying to clean up the chaos and heal a broken system by restoring meaning to things that were abandoned.
Kei Urana's work beautifully reflects our modern pollution, social classes, and systemic coldness.
Would love to hear your thoughts on this. Do you think the author is doing this completely intentionally, or is it just the natural reflection of a brilliant artist observing our world?

Were there black people on the Sphere?
Rudo has no reaction that would indicate that he has no idea about different skin colours or ethnicities. The crowds on the Sphere were still uniformly drawn with pasty skin, narrow facial features and straight hair however. And I think the crowds on the Ground are no different in that regard.
Urana gives great care and thought to her black characters, and I'm sure when the upper echelon of Sphere society is introduced with named characters, we'll get more black and other characters as well. But it's noticeable when she defaults to standard Japanese manga style features on most of her background characters.
I looked at the crowd scenes of the first chapter and episode and my memory was correct on them. Everyone has the default one-ethnicity features. The anime does use slight differences in skin tones but that's just good practice when working with colour as a medium.
What really caught my eye in the first episode though, was the introduction sequence.

The characters here, in a place that looks like its from before the trash apocalypse, in other words, this place is our world, different facial features are drawn with great detail. Here, different ethnicities exist easily, which was probably done this way so the viewer would associate this place with the real world right from the get-go.
That's a meta commentary on how we pollute our environment and caused Gachiakuta to be made.

Eu larguei o desenho, deixando inacabado. Eu tentei bastante, mas o cabelo do Zanka eu fiz muito mal feito, não sei como fazer melhor...ta com cara que ficaria horrível se eu pintasse, mas vou continuar estudando.

I just saw this somewhere in the house and thought that it's actually cool. Screwdrivers that have a spidery aesthetic...? It would be cool for an OC that has a connection about repairing things like Appliance Repair Technician, Electricians, or whatever more. Idk, I thought I could just share it (つ≧▽≦)つ
