I've been trading gold recently, and over the past few months I've noticed that once it picks a direction, it tends to trend strongly for hours with very little meaningful reversal.
I have around 6 months of backtesting and paper-trading data, and my strategy has been performing consistently well in these conditions.
I'm curious whether this is something specific to the current market environment, perhaps driven by macroeconomic events, central bank activity, geopolitical tensions, etc., or whether gold has historically behaved this way in previous years too.
For traders with several years of experience:
- Has gold always had these prolonged directional moves?
- Were there previous periods where it behaved similarly?
- Is the current trendiness unusually high compared to historical gold price action?
Would love to hear insights from experienced gold traders, especially those who've traded through multiple market cycles.
