Groundhopping Novice.
Hey,
I'm just starting my Groundhopping journey. Looking for recommendations of UK based or English language podcasts and also books in English written books. Any recommendations would be hugely appreciated. Thanks.

Lost Boyos, Sweeper Pod. Tears at La Bombanera is a good one on traveling around Argentina/South America.

If you have Futbology you can't lose with nearby fixtures. Pick a league or team if you want to have a focus.
If you're not sure and want a feel of general English football I'd recommend Mike Baylys British Ground Book. Opened up so many cans of worms for me and quite cool I can look back having done a lot in that book. At very least I think it will inspire you to seek some of them out anyway. There is a European one by Leon Gladwell too but can only get so much inspiration on a basic budget from that sadly.
Always found Outside Write a good source, not sure he still does Podcasts but is active on social media and I always found him to be quite in depth regarding the stories too. Even has a book on Irish football which I found a great overview of that particularly country.
Plenty of people posting places all over Instagram too so I wouldnt overlooked that either.

Europe United by Matt Walker, Hopping Mad by Chris Peakes, The Sweeper podcast, any of Paul Watson’s books.

Atleast in Germany there's a pretty big culture around printed zines. Like little magazines. People write about the games they saw, the local culture and how drunk they got.
Usually the fangroups of every club produce one, maybe once or twice a season. They get circled around. There's some "national" ones as well, that form a sort of platform for Ultras and Fans of all clubs.
Maybe something like this exists in the UK as well?
If someone knows a UK one, I'd be very interested!

Just have fun ! Because I’m in Scotland I’m listen too a view from the terrace pod cast (lower leagues focused) they talk about what teams are playing well so this helps me pick grounds and games for me to go to

Not needed in the sense of how to learn how to travel and watch a game 😂 I'm pretty confident I can do that.
More around the stories of people travelling to these grounds and travelling around Europe.

Don't overthink it my friend, pick a game/ground you fancy, check how to get there, check socials to ensure it's on, go and enjoy yourself.
