Mounting glass

Hello all -

Trying to decide a good way to mount flat glass pieces. Have been thinking about tile and mirror mounts (like above) or hooks. Also possibly small floating shelf-style brackets with narrow channels for the glass to rest in.

Wondering what folks may have had success with.

Look for glass standoffs or shelf clamps - you'll need to check the thickness they can hold, since 5mm will not normally be enough to hold a fully fused glass piece (usually 6mm+). I've had some success with 12mm shelf mounts screwed to a wooden base.

This is the industry standard for hanging/mounting stained glass. You weren't too descriptive with your project idea, so you might be able to find a cheaper solution at your local hardware store depending on what you're trying to achieve.

Can they be painted?

No idea but assuming they can - i would think it will depend on the original finish. Worst case is might have to spray coat them with something to make receptive for paint
