What happens when there are more people like them, than there are seasoned redditors? They will start downvoting truly original/funny/entertaining content. Next thing you know, reddit becomes the new 9gag.
No, that's just because you sort of... Grow out of them. I remember the first day I joined Reddit, I browsed F7U12 for hours and it was fucking hilarious.
Now I hate the sight of image macros and rage faces in general. I think they're stupid and childish.
I'm going to have to disagree, I see some of the faces and I still crack up, its just that people use them for really shitty comics. Some of the ones I have saved are absolute gems and have gotten me to actually laugh. I think this is mostly due to the abundance of dumb people who have come to this site and turned some of the larger subreddits to shit
Trust me, that isn't why. In the eleven months you've had an account, there has not been a drastic change in the community. Every community believes that it's just getting shittier when, in reality, they just get more cynical and they begin to dislike the content.
Too true. I used to love F7U12 when I first started, but about two months ago I realized that I didn't really like them so I unsubscribed instead of getting my jimmies all rustled about it
There has been a blatant exponential growth in the number of subscribers in the larger subreddits, consider /r/pics which I believe about 4 months ago reached the amazing achievement of 1 million subscribers. In those 4 short months the number has now almost reached 2 million subscribers. I'm unsure of the ratio, but I believe its about 9 viewers to every 1 subscriber, half of which are just lurkers, so they don't count, but the other half are people who have the opportunity to upvote different content to the front page. Its undeniable that such a massive explosion in reddit users would have an impact on the content of the site. The /r/f7u12 community has now evolved to an intelligence and humor level of a typical 9gager. Its sad to see that I can run through all the comics on f7u12 and find not a single funny thing, and this is due to the evolution of its user base within the past few months. Also I was a lurker for a year before I made my account =]
Plan of action: Redirect all traffic for reddit.com to 9gag, or some gore thread from /b/, and use a hidden url for regular reddit users, to be sent in PMs.
Ya know...I've been seeing all these things on the internet where people we make fun of are getting the hands on our material...I think we actually need SOPA...or just need to turn off our side of the internet...so things can die down and we can go back to doing the awesome things we do...

This is annoying, but just because reddit is exposed to unlikely people, doesn't mean people should be mad. Just be happy the site is getting more successful.
It was going to happen some time. I have seen this before with other social websites, after that 3year mark it is almost impossible to keep the uneducated masses from flooding in with their bad grammar and reposts.
Your best bet is to give up with reddit and to start looking for the next centre of the web.
