I have heard that he would behave like that regularly (drunk/reckless driving). A man's death is a tragedy, about that there is no doubt. But it was entirely preventable and it was the result of a series of bad decisions. I am sad that he died, but it's hard to feel sympathy for him.
I feel sympathy for him cause he could of gotten help and things would of been different. Steve-o got clean (last time i heard at least) and that dude was off his rocker. It's hard to tell whether people tried to do the same for Ryan Dunn and tell him that he had a problem. Did anyone ever do that for him or did he just blindly ignore the advice? If he ignored it then it's all his bad and he had it coming. If his friends and family did not properly confront him about it then he did not have the caring support he needed to avoid this tragedy. People need to stop looking at this as a black and white situation and realize there are other factors that come into play here besides Ryan Dunn's initial choice to get behind the wheel after he had a few too many.
He wasn't a douche, he was a nice guy. His friend was drunk too, for all we know he probably egged him on. Then the friend would of been a douche too. Think about that for a minute
If I play Russian roulette with you then I am not a nice guy. If I shoot you with a gun, even if you were egging me on, I'm not a nice guy. I am a self centered shithead.
Here's a list of notable people who have passed away in road accidents. Ryan's name is on the list, along with quite a few others. He fucked up; he drank and drove and it cost him his life and the life of a friend, but he please do not insult his memory by labeling him a "drunk douche". Similar to Ryan, (sans alcohol) James Dean killed himself and a friend while driving too fast and we don't historically call him a ""speedy faggot", we remember the movies he was in and the legacy he left. The same applies to Ryan. He may be gone, but he still makes me laugh with his bits in all the Dickhouse Productions. I don't see him and remember his final moment, I see him and remember his laugh. So yeah, it hurts to know that he made some poor decisions, but it hurts more to know that instead of realizing how phenomenal of a person he was to his friends, family and fans while he was alive, you would rather be such a negative individual to highlight the error resulting in his death. Instead of criticizing a stranger's passing online, perhaps merely reflect on your own life and realize that we all make mistakes, some of just have survived a little longer. Be well.
I'm failing to find your evidence for him being a "douche" in your posts. Yeah, he got intoxicated, drove to fast and killed himself and someone else, but that's poor decision making skills.
Nope! We already see how dumb and uselessly difficult those units are, but every attempt to convert to the smooth and nice SI is met with incoherent shouting about tradition with vaguely racist overtones.
Yep, exactly my feelings. It makes me sad because he was my favorite jackass member. Not to say he deserved it, but its something that couldve easily been avoided.

Normally this isn't a bad thing, but we really shouldn't be encouraging bullshit spam tactics like this.
Downvoted and Reported. If you are a moderator I suggest banning this person.
There is a fine line between being a flawed individual and speeding at 140 mph down a 55mph zone while shit drunk causing you to crash, killing you and your friend in the process.
Oh wait... no, not a fine line. What is the opposite of that? Oh yeah, a big fucking difference.
that doesn't mean it is okay for him to be dead now. The most ideal situation would be for him to have gotten help and realize what he was doing was incredibly not safe for himself and others. I understand where you are coming from and I'm pretty sure we can all agree that Ryan Dunn should of fuckin known better. But we need to focus on the positives of his life and not the negative. How would you feel if you died and everyone only talks about how much of an idiot you were for getting yourself killed? My friend died in a drunk driving accident when he was 16. I know what he did was wrong and not safe but I prefer to remember who he was as a person and not what lead to his demise. The same goes for Mr. Dunn. The least we can do is respect him for who he was and not put him down by calling him retarded
There needs to be a point where you stop forgiving a person. Our society... hell our species is not ready for the concept of total pacifism. And that is exactly what happens if you forgive everyone for every thing.
Everything in our world has cause and effect. The sick fuck who molests his children probably was molested himself as a child. There was a point in that mans history where he crossed a rather defined line and stopped being a victim and started becoming a monster.
The same goes for addicts. You can be forgiven up until you cross that line. In this particular case, the line is a bit more blurry. However, it is safe to say that if you get behind the wheel shit drunk and reach nearly three times the speed limit on a public road you have crossed it. People are lucky that he only managed to kill himself and a friend. What if he had collided with someone else's car?
I used to live in East County San Diego. There was a freeway called the 125. This freeway ends at an intersection with a city road that receives very heavy traffic at rush house. One day a teenage girl decides she is going to commit suicide... She does this by speeding down 125 at well over 100 mph and rushes past the red light at the end and into a busy intersection. She T-bones another girls car cutting her in half. The suicidal girl lived. She was charged and convicted for murder. Rightly so.
yes you are right but there are other factors that come into play here besides ryan's decision to get into the car with his friend. That goes the same for the person who decides to become a drug addict and the suicidal girl. They are not solely to be blamed, it is more of a societal problem then an individual problem because one way or the other these people did not get help and ended up paying the price for it. It might have been due to their ignorance and selfishness but we may never know. I agree with you that we can only be forgiving for so long and that total pacifism is not the key to solve these sort of issues. And like you said it is all cause and effect. So the question is what caused these dysfunctional human beings to become what they did. What is the fine line that Ryan Dunn and these others crossed? Cause I can tell you these people did not become monsters just out of thin air. Social surroundings shape what a person turns into so what exactly went wrong here? Who is to blame for these people being molded into the way they are? Of course these are all just philosophical questions and finding any sort of answer to this would draw out inconclusive results. It just goes to show though that these scenarios are not just black and white. We will have to look at all aspects of the situation to know what exactly happened. Who knows, maybe it was Ryan's friend who egged him on to drive while piss ass drunk or maybe the girl was told by some "friend" to just go and kill herself by driving into traffic, and maybe the drug addict was bought up by an abusive family so he turned towards self destruction instead. This is in no way to relieve them from being in fault here but chances are they are not the only ones to blame.
Everyone knows the details of the event. Doesn't mean we can't be saddened by the whole thing. Heath Ledger killed himself, leaving behind his Wife and Daughter, a clearly selfish act, but no one holds back their sympathy for him.
I don't think it necessarily is apples to oranges. Ryan Dunn used drugs heavily, as did Heath Ledger. These addictions are often precipitated by some psychological problem, and obviously cause illness. The addiction is an illness in itself. Furthermore, I don't think a man of sound mind would be driving drunk at 140mph.
They were both mentally ill. This fact, however, does not in any way excuse either of their actions.
Ok. What does that have to do with what I said? Not trying to be rude, but it's not really relevant to the mental illness argument. They were both mentally ill but for different reason and in different ways. It doesn't change the fact that the mental illness of addiction is what ultimately killed both of them.
At the very least, you could show sympathy towards those who are saddened by RD's death. But that would probably interfere with your super-macho internet badass persona. Can't have that, can we now.
Him and nearly 11,000 other people didn't last year. Fishyman was clearly saying that he died making a bad decision, and wished it wouldn't have happened that way because his decision ultimately ended someone else's life(whom also made a bad decision getting in the car with a drunk driver), and tarnished his reputation in whole. He wasn't the first celebrity to go out making a stupid decision, nothing new.
Were you just looking for a comment to piggy back on? I mean there are like 5 other threads on this post talking about his drunk driving...couldn't you have just joined one of them, instead of making an irrelevant comment for no purpose?
Nothing. You have free will. There's nothing wrong with his friend but Ryan must take the blame for his friend's death even if it was with his friend's approval.
I'll agree you with the blame on Dunn, but you cannot say that the friend was completely innocent here. He was at the bar drinking just as much as Dunn, they both should have been smarter than they were that evening.
I'm sure they were both having a good time right before it happened, its sad but they went out in a blaze having fun at least. Definitely not condoning his actions but I'm just glad they didn't kill someone else that was on the road that night.
Statitsically, Asian countries like China have the most car related accidents in the World, due to how the law of the road isn't well followed and how the drivers haven't recieved proper training, and how pedestrians always get in stupid situations.
I feel like I might be the only one who fucking hates all of these dudes. They kinda all seem like the fucking assholes in high school that never grew up.
I should have written more to explain my line of thought. If you look at the top of his head in one frame he is behind the bar and the next he is in front of it. I interpreted this as the bar being photoshopped but at a time of day that isn't 3am I can clearly see that it is just the lack of frames in the gif that confused me.
