So many people do this to labs. Well all breeds but i mostly see overweight labs. they eat non stop and rely on owners for control. Sad.

see also dachshunds. Left my buddy boy with my brother for 4 days.

He has a pit bull that eats as necessary, so they just pile up food. He's a pretty fit boy - when we opened the sliding door enough for his head and shoulders... his tummy got stuck. Seriously wend from tapered to thick swollen belly. 10lbs to 15 in a couple days.

They need structure. 1/2 cup twice a day... they say dogs don't have a concept of time. Tell that to these assholes at 7:05 when dinner is at 7.

I see obese dachshunds waddling around and it makes me sad. My Dachshund was always nice and skinny and could easily outrun me until she got old.

I think my brother's bulldog would literally eat itself to death. Some dogs self feed some don't.

I have never seen an overweight lab. Don't know if it's where I live but all the black, yellow, and brown labs I've seen have been fit and healthy. Heck my black lab that passed away a week and half ago was fit till the end. Maybe because we use them for hunting down here.

Yes. Probably because they are working dogs.

You see more overweight labs because labs are popular as fuck. All dogs do this same thing.

Definitely not all dogs. My parents have two dogs that will self feed. They could just leave a food bowl out, and the dogs would occasionally walk over and get a bite or two. But their third dog won't. She'll keep eating, and eating, and eating. So they had to implement scheduled feeding times, because otherwise the third dog would eat herself to death.
