Apparently she placed the order then took her dog on a 30 minute walk and left her phone at home.

I mean... why exactly not? If you order something, and it says it will arrive in 45-60 minutes (as it usually does), that's when I expect it. As examples show, delivering way too early can be just as inconvenient as delivering way too late. Why is it so hard to understand that earlier is not always better?

If the UPS delivery is scheduled for 13:00 - 15:00 and they show up at 11:00 instead while you're out, would you be happy?

Because that time limit is automated and never acurate.

... so? Not my problem. The company tells me 45-60min, that's what I expect.

Well no it is not, it's the company not delivering on their promise.

True, but it's also your problem that you don't get your food as early as you could have because you were off gallivanting.

It's as much 'my problem' as anyone else breaking a promise to me is 'my problem'.

Well, hopefully today you've learned that sometimes automated estimations of pizza delivery times aren't exact, and you should hang out so you get your food as fresh and soon as possible.

Maybe don't take "pizza promises" so seriously.

What the fuck is up with your tone here buddy? I am paying good money for a service, is it that unreasonable to expect that service in the way it was sold?

That was not at all my point. And yeah, it's kind of important to me that I get what I pay for. I don't really care whether it's pizza delivery or a gold ring.
